He'll say something and expect everyone to read his mind. He might tell you A, B, and maybe C... but then he'll suddenly jump to Z and expect you to know exactly how he got there, why and what car he drove. I'm not exaggerating. You seriously have to ask him for the critical information he just left out, like maybe which page he's on!

Steer clear unless you're a math wiz. The lectures and homework connect only tenuously, and consistently his exams are too long for the allotted time (every test, more than half the class was still working when he called time). His grading scheme is opaque, since he claims not to curve yet my letter grade always rated higher than my score.

A really nice guy who's heart is in the right place, but he is not capable of projecting ideas from his head to students. He doesn't follow the book and his homeworks have nothing to do with his lectures. He doesnt understand that the students are trying to get a degree in math, not already have one.

He's a really nice guy, but half the time I couldn't understand what he was trying to teach us. I took a similar class in high school, so most of the time I had a vague idea as to what he was doing, but most of the rest of the people in my class were completely lost. If you have to take this class, try to take it with another professor.

Off in his own world concerning what is interesting and fitting. WAY TOO HARD for a 381 course; only covers his own random interests with unclear proofs. Assumes high level of proof ability coming into course and skips many topics (eg probability). If you're willing to work by yourself and have a good eye (and taste) for theory, you'll like him.

A nice and caring man. A man who tries to help.....but that is it! He is completely desensitized to the fact that you have to have a basis for the material before incorporating mathematical theorems into the lessons. Homeworks took (with group help), 2-3 full afternoons/week (1pm-7pm).......and almost all were incapable of being clarified by Mat

Worst Teacher ever. Made me feel so stupid when meeting with him outside of class for help. Really should not be a difficult class, but he makes it so. Notes and Exams had nothing to do with anything. The book made sense, but we were never tested on the book. Other teachers for Math 81 seem so much easier and to make sense.

My friend, who had a different professor, had said this class wasn't too bad...but with this professor, it was. Sometimes the stuff in class made sense, but the homework rarely did. I never understood how the homework linked to what we did in class. Nice guy, but there are other teachers for this class.

Yes the class is hard and the he doesn't make it any easier. He is a nice person and I did like math. It's a lot of work and hw that doesn't make sense. And bad exams too. And there is absolutely NO curving so if everyone fails the final (which we all did b/c the avg. was a 48) then that grade stands.

Took this several years back, but still remember as if it were yesterday. Cannot teach a dog to sit. Expects everyone to have learned advanced mathematics in grade school and gives no help on questions, and terribly unfair exams. Worst professor I have ever had, and I have had some bad ones (see Dr. Irene, Chemistry). STAY AWAY FROM LADNOR!

Great guy, but terrible teacher. I couldn't understand the flow of class. He didn't accurately define what was expected, either in general or from specific topics. He gave NO SYLLABUS! He expected the very terrible book to explain the topics.

Sweet man, very willing to help, but the class was TERRIBLE!!! Everyone hated that class. Ugh. Nice guy though. Final exam he divided us up into two rooms and left. Probably the most fun exam I've ever taken...not the best exam I've ever taken though!

I have to say that this professor was one of the worst I've ever had. It's been a while since I've taken the class, and I hate to speak poorly of someone. However, the professor is quite obtuse, and doesn't explain things well.

One of the better math prof's. Be ready to ask questions and even readier to listen to the answers. He has a passion for math and loves to share it, but he is a bit shy. Be patient and you'll be rewarded.
