I have never really given a review of a teacher before, but I felt compelled too in Lantz's case. He is a mean spirited jerk to his students, and a true disdain for them. I felt uncomfortable every time I was in class because he is just awful. His in class essays are incredible hard, for the fact that he grades you based on your opinions? Awful

Hi i dont know where to start but ill try to be as unbiased as I can. So basically, i took this class in the fall, english 2 and I have to say, it was one of the worst experiences I have had at smc. Lantz does not care your grade, regardless of your effort. easy enough class, but he grades for unknown reasons. Unorganized, Controlling guy, rude man

actually one of the funnier professors i have had. he isnt very nice at all and belittles you for asking questions, but if you write concise papers with parts of the book cited youll be fine. I didnt even read half of what was assigned, i skipped a whole book. just figure out his system. the negative reviews make him seem worse than he really is

Ruined my gpa. Easy B but I needed an A. I worked desperately to get that A. I have had a 4.0 for 3 semesters. Only class that seemed unfair. I put in amazing amounts of effort, only to receive the same lousy B- on every in class essay. His grade is completely arbitrary. Participation/effort is futile. Arrogant guy with a funny wizard beard lol run

He is seriously the worst teacher ever. I would work so hard on an essay and feel really good about it then I'd get it back and get a D. When I would ask him why he gave no explanation. Every paper I got a D! Finally I had to drop the class so it wouldn't kill my GPA! (I took a W)Do not take this class.I wish I would have read these comments before

He is very opinionated, if you do not agree with him then you are wrong. As far as grading, you think you know his criteria but you dont. For example I turned in a writing project and got 90% on the whole process, I followed all of his feedback and everything and then I received a D on the project, even though I followed his directions to the T.

Put 0 effort into this class! I got a severe health problem from this teacher giving me a B- On everything. Dont come to office hours, dont participate a ton, dont show your trying really hard and you be just fine! I did all those things and it was wrothless! More effort you put in, the less you get out! Single handedly made me drop out. A+ Student

This could be a film class lol. You learn absolutely nothing about writing. He is unbelivably pretentious about his class when really nobody cares about his class. Hi I took his class because the other more sought after professors were booked. I figured he would be fine since he has a 4.0 rating. During office hours he would try to do psycho-analysis instead of telling me what he wanted on the in class essays. He was very peculiar. Not recommended whatsoever! Wish Rate My Professors was more accurate!

Super sarcastic and dry sense of humor. The better you get to know him, the funnier he seems to be. lectures are kind of boring and do not have much participation in them, but are extremely useful. come to class, pay attention and you'll pass. Also, go to office hours! ill make a huge difference in your grade, plus he's fun to talk to.

At first he seems tough but after a couple of classes you begin to realize he's a really good professor. Classes are not boring and he gives you 1 essay per week (1 page long). No final test but you have to write a research paper. He helps you on every step of the research paper with clear instructions. Write your essays and attend classes to pass!

Professor Simpson is a fantastic English Lit teacher. His English 6 course covers many different authors and genres of literature, which is fun. Lots of reading, so I'd only recommend this class for serious English majors.

Best English Prof. I've ever had, and this is from an English Major. Dry sense of humor and good lectures, material is inspiring for the essays you must write. You'll find some authors and poets to fall in love with. The participation is fun and he makes it a comfortable environment.

Professor Simpson seems like a tough guy, but he's actually really cool once you get to know him. Very smart, you can tell by his lectures. The only essays you write are in class, and he's a super fair grader. I definitely recommend taking him.

Prof. Simpson is one of the best professors in SMC. He is great and helpful. He may hard to reach at first, but then u'll find him very useful and nice. Easy, but boring class and professor. Some classes are much more exciting than others. He is very kind and has a weird sense of humor. I enjoy him! Go to his office hours. very easy class!!!! you go over the reading in class during discussions at after all the inclass discussions you write an essay. he grades pretty easily to me, he is just very picky on spelling!!!! so spell right! it can make a whole grade of a difference. hes very nice and funny and i enjoyed his class.

Took his scholars english 2 course. 5 essays on each form of literature that you study and a comprehensive final which is 2 essays. All essays are done in-class. The class is pretty low maintenance aside from the essays and Simpson is pretty knowledgable on the content of the subject. Read and prepare for the essays and you'll receive an A.
