I actually enjoyed Kinney's teaching style. He teaches the material at a good rate, and for the most part, his lectures are full of good information. His assignments and tests were good applications of what we were taught.

Comment:
Too much material. Was able to keep up until after the 1st midterm. Averaged about 25% on the 2nd midterm and final, and still got a b in the class. Tests and hw seemed like he was showing off(y would i want to make a flip-flop with a decoder?). He doesn't care about his students. Lectures are boring but u have to attend, a lot is not in the book.

Comment:
Horrible professor. Homeworks are really hard, but Kinney gives you no material to work with to complete them correctly. Lab was terrible especially when the TA doesn't explain anything. Kinney would always mess up his examples which made it very confusing. Doesn't take the time to explain anything in detail. Doesn't care about his students.

Comment:
Despite being a 2000 level course, this class takes up more of my time and effort than all my other classes combined. Although competent,I have serious doubts whether Kinney should really be allowed to teach at any university at all. You are wasting money and would be better off learning the topics by yourself. Avoid this professor like the plague.

Personally I hope this man retires soon. He does not care if you understand the material or not. I believe he wants you to feel stupid and incapable when taking EE2301, otherwise he wouldn't run things the way he does. I thought it was my problem until I realized how low the exam scores were. Too much is covered, but yet not explained by Kinney.

Easily the worst professor I've had. I can only hope that he's the worst I'll ever have. Understanding this class while still having a life (due to the time it would take to learn the material) is IMPOSSIBLE.

Comment:
Very poorly organized when it comes to homework, labs, lecture, and assigned readings. Wait, there are now assigned readings because he occasionally reminds us of where we should be reading around due to the fact that he jumps from chapter to chapter. Very frustrating to do his homework every week.

Comment:
Horrible, he would continuously get lost in his own examples or completely screw them up. Tests featured questions pertaining to the lab current for the week, making it impossible for people who hadn’t had lab yet that week to answer for full credit. The average on our tests of 130 points was 57. Avoid this professor at all costs.

Homework is long (8-10hrs/wk). Lab is a pain in the ass if you have a bad TA(nothing ever works). Tests have some curve balls. You need to go to each lecture! Kinney covers alot of material that isnt in the book. He also isnt the most exciting person to listen too(kinda monotone). To do well in this class you really need to like the subject.

The homework is incredibly long, and the tests are on slightly more material than the homeworks. He doesn't go over the homework material before it's due. If you can avoid him, do it. Don't take Vlad though.

He explains what he is trying to explain very well. However, a lot of the stuff in lecture doesn't correspond to our lab or what we are doing in homework all that well. Haven't had a midterm yet, but its making me nervous

Very competent if a little dry. Homework was tough but tests weren't quite as bad. Explained things well...if you could stay awake.
