Larry is a brilliant, brilliant biblical scholar and will prod you to challenge your own beliefs. He may even break down the basis for everything you thought you believed in, just to make you think. He runs a very difficult class, but you will learn a ton.

He is the worst teacher i have ever had in my entire life. he is biased and rude and hateful. he doesn't care that he totally chooses favorites and treats everyone else poorly. i hate him. more than anyone.

I spent that majority of these classes just waiting for them to end. Some people like Prof. Lyke, others hate him; I happen to be in the latter group. The class is tedious, biased, and truly not all that helpful. His examinations are ridiculous. One hint: he seems to be a hard grader, and is, but your final grade will be better than you'd think.

Larry is a one man show; He can spend one class imparting great wisdom and the next ranting about his second wife's ex-husband. He's incredibly easy and while he may loose your midterms, you do leave the class feeling like you've learned something. If you're religious or don't have a sense of humor prepare to be horribly offended.

Took forever to return essays and graded them kind of harshly. Impossible to meet outside of class unless you happen to find him with his door open. Short Story in the Hebrew Bible is worth taking if you're a religion major, but its a bit trying at times

The complaint of his not returning work has been addressed by assigning only one essay. Lyke often seems to care as much about amusing himself as he does teaching. However, he does a good job of presenting the material. The course is critical biblical scholarship and Lyke is highly critical

Larry is hillarious. You will pretty consistently be entertained, just look at his comments on the Jolt. As for the material, alot of people wont get it, but those who want to will. His sense of humor will also offend some students, but thats the best part.

Funny guy, but spends LOTS of time on extremely minute concepts. Any given class is easy, but he grades very hard on tests and papers compared to the easiness of an average class. Not enough papers, tests, ways to get your grade up if you screw up.
