He's a very nice person but the key to his class is to focus more on his spoken lecture not his slides. I made a study partner where one was responsible for his written notes and the other his speeches and we'd trade off and do the study guides together. You have to attentively use the book for the study guide. You just have to actually put effort

This class was a nightmare. If you absolutely must take this course sit in the front of the class- you can't hear him any more than five rows back.

Class is easy, just use the study guide. Don't even need to take notes honestly. I think he's disappointed that students don't discuss or debate him. It's partly our fault that the class is boring, if all we do is sit there and stare into the distance. I encourage people to not do that.

Professor is very "set in his ways" He mocks Democrats and women's rights groups in class. Tests are difficult, and skewed to his viewpoint. Goes off on random tangents and is difficult to hear as well. Even our TA spoke out against him.

Ugh, where do I begin?! He is impossible to understand during his lectures, his test reviews cover prety much nothing that is on the actual test, and it's almost impossible to pass the class. The TA was very helpful though, go to him if you have questions about the tests. Ovderall, just avoid this class if you can. It's AWFUL!

Oh good lord. This was THE most horrible class ever. He NEVER made sense, AND he only has 3 grades the entire semester. You screw up on one (which is very likely considering he doesn't even teach you what's on the test) you have to work your ASS off to try to even pass by a point.

Cant understand him, forgets what he was talking about mid sentence, and reviews are very broad. He just tells you to reread your notes, and his test is not which answer is correct, but which one is the most correct. So you have to be on your A game if you want a A. Class average was a C-.

I don't know what these ppl are talking about saying that he is a hard teacher. If you think he is hard then you might want to reconsider college. He is one of if not the easiest teacher I have had at tech. He gives out reviews in class and the questions are almost verbatim on the exam. requires less then 2 hours of studying for each test for an A+

Mayer is a fantastic teacher. He's extremely knowledgeable on comparative politics, and tells it like it is. His tests are short answer, and he gives you the answers in class if you ask for them, and he likes discussion in class. If you can't figure out how to make a good grade in Dr. Mayer's class, then you don't deserve to be in college.

Worst professor I've had! Do NOT take his class! Taking notes, and reading the text book was useless, because majority was NOT on the exam.

Tough class! Make sure you attend class everyday and read the chapters from the book. His notes aren't very helpful. He gives a review sheet before each exam, make sure you know EVERYTHING on the review sheet!

Read your textbook and take notes. Do both of these things and you will be fine. I try to listen but he is hard to understand. Just take down his notes. Study them and the book and you will do fine.

He is usually a nice guy and teaches clearly but if you want to do well on the tests GO TO THE REVIEWS! They will save you whether you are doing badly in the class or not - the questions are pretty much the same as on the tests.
