Let's just say that you will certainly know how to use a comma properly after this class. There are A TON of spelling, grammar, and vocabulary tests (in addition to the numerous papers you will be writing). Don't drink anything before class because you are not allowed to leave the room to use the restroom during lectures. Feels like high school.

Comment:

Focuses too heavily on grammar and spelling and not enough on argumentative/collegiate writing skills. Let's face it, you don't need to have perfect spelling, or even grammar, in our current day (spell check anyone?) to be a "good" writer. You need to be able to form effective arguments. Nice lady and interesting lectures, but not the best class.

You write 5 essays. If you eliminate your mistakes in each, she increases your grade by a point. Its ridiculous Bc it takes a long time to write. She loves Vocab and grammar so you have a lot of quizzes on those. She also gives spelling quizzes. You cant get up during class and if you come in late she usually makes it a big deal.

Loved this class! There was a lot of vocab and grammar. We wrote 5 essays but she gives really good feedback and as long as you learn from your past mistakes, your grades on the essays will go up.

We had a lot of spelling, grammar, and vocab quizzes that were really easy. Essays weren't too bad and we worked on them in class. She is pretty funny and tells good stories about her own experiences. However, she does not let you go to the bathroom during class. Did not require any textbooks

I loved my experience with Professor Gabrielsen. I would highly recommend her class to anyone. She clearly breaks the subject down to the basics and gives specific instructions. Professor Gabrielsen is extremely helpful, and expects you to utilize the assistance provided. As long as you meet the expectations, you will do well.

I took this class the fall'14 semester. She gives short lectures on grammar and gives you tons of exercises after(this is where you have to participate) . She also gives spelling, vocab, and grammar quizzes (no pop quizzes). MAKE SURE YOU DO ALL THE PAPERS there are only a few and she looks for improvement. NO TEXTBOOK NEEDED.

i really liked this professor. she has so much knowledge on children's literature and made the class fun. not an easy grader but she will see all your work before it's due and give you some pointers. quizes on reading almost every class, but pretty easy. overall i loved the class.

Loving her Children's Literature Class! Very fair teacher. Take good notes, read the stories, and study a lot for the tests, and you will do well. She sticks to the syllabus, so you will know exactly when tests are and what's due when. Take her!!

By far the best teacher I had at County College of Morris. Extremely passionate about teaching and offers tremendous insight into the readings. I took both of her Honors Lit courses and I learned more about history in those courses than in my history class. Take this professor!!

I love this woman! Had her for children's literature and she is endlessly enthusiastic about the subject matter! Very nice and humorous, truly enjoys teaching. Expects effort and hard work from students. Read the stories for quizzes, they are easy! Do the projects thoroughly and go to class and it will be a pleasure. Lots of fun and full of trivia!

Had her both for World Literature Honors and Children's Lit. Very passionate about literature and she always makes class very fun. The period goes by really fast. You can tell she loves what she does and that in turn makes us love what she teaches. Whether or not you're passionate about literature, having her as a teacher will be a good time.

Gabrielsen is so good. She really wants her students to understand the material. She is very fun and keeps you interested. Just make sure to study for vocab and get your essays in on time!! Definitely reccomend her.

Spelling and grammar quizzes every class. Some classes we would take 2 or 3 quizzes. She corrects your essays and makes composition extremely easy because she knows that no one wants to take it. I miss 17 classes and I went and told her that I'm a bum and couldn't wake up and she gave me a C in the class when I missed over 20 quizzes. She's a king.

I was required to take this to fulfill my humanities req having no interest whatsoever, Prof Gabrielsen made this class very interesting. She's a pretty intense grader when it comes to projects. You may think you have done an A project and it comes back as a C. Shes a cool lady for the most part, children's lit could have been A LOT worse.
