Online class history of hip-hop in summer- her feedback and grading were both very unpredictable. Lots of reading and not a lot of time to do it because the course was meant for 14 weeks but we took it for 6. Project instructions and expectations were unclear. The videos were interesting. Quip group discussions- only saw others responses.

Really funny person and a great adviser She likes it when people engage in class discussions and lectures. The work may seem hard, but it'a manageable. Advice: Skim the readings. Talk about social issues in critical responses. Use a ton of quotes in the research papers. Make jokes. She loves jokes. Also her grading process is weird. You'll see.

Do not take this class! Nash thinks her class is the equivalent of a senior foreign finance class in terms of work load. She assigns two 10 page research papers and they only count for 40 points! The same as a quiz! The class discussions are only fun if you are a genius on the genre that she talks about.

I didn't really enjoy this class very much. I took it because I thought learning about the history of hip-hop would be interesting and a break from my other classes. I was wrong. It was a lot of reading for homework and we had to watch 2 hour long movies for homework regularly. Homework for this class would take me hours to complete.

She is awesome, but she is busy a lot since she heads the entire music department. She knows the struggle and helps as much as she can. She is funny and has comical comments to say about most things. As for music theory, she wants to make sure that you understand the material and can at the same time fulfill your creative potential.

I've never done this before but i feel the need to warn you to not take this class. Nash does not recognize that her course is taken by most as an elective to help manage their workload in their majors, she instead gives more work than actual major courses and grades even harder. If asked for help she replies with sarcasm and indifference.

Nash is an excellent teacher. This is COLLEGE so obviously you'll have a decent amount of work (You need to learn somehow.) If you don't understand something, she expects you to act like an adult (because you are one) and go talk to her. If you want someone to baby you, go to community college. She's fun, helpful, and caring.

AVOID THIS CLASS!! This is the first time I rate a professor but I had to warn you. You will be doing more music work than you would be doing for your major classes. Class average on our first paper was a 15/40, yet she somehow failed to take any responsibility that we ALL failed that paper.

LOVE her as a person! She is nice, approachable, and really funny! However, I would not recommend taking her class. There is so much unnecessary work! I am an engineering major and this class gave me more homework than any of my other ones this semester. This course is really fun in class but there is so much work that it wasn't worth it.

LOVE HER! Although there are never any tests or quizzes, and only like, 2 objective assignments, she definitely challenges you to think outside the box and dig deeper through reflections, criticisms, and research papers. It can be a lot of work, but it's doable. She's a lot of fun and hilarious, but also a boss when it comes to academics. TAKE HER!

She's crazy, but so much fun! Uses current examples to illustrate historical material, and draws on all kinds of resources--film, Youtube, New York Times website--to teach in class. Big on journals and thinking critically, outside of the box. If you love the humanities & studying them then you will love Dr. Nash.

Probably my favorite teacher at fairfield. Her class is challenging, but definitely worth the time. She's very willing to help
