Overall Quinney is not someone I can honestly recommend taking. Her lectures are long, heavy, and boring. A lot of the time during my class people would sneak off to the bathroom and just sit there until class was over. She is fundamentally very nice person but her poetry class is just not worth taking.

Prof. Quinney is the best professor I've ever had. She is brilliant, compassionate, and deeply committed. The classes are thought-provoking and enjoyable, and the papers push deep consideration of the material. She is also always happy to continue discussion outside of class and support students in their ideas/projects/goals. LOVE her!

Professor Quinney speaks so well and is simply brilliant. She's funny and makes sure her students are engaged in her lectures. She has fun and knows her material. She is a lovable and quirky woman, and a highly recommended professor.

While I do think that she could come down harder on irrelevant comments in class, she's so passionate about the subject and so respectful of students and their genuinely good ideas, I wholeheartedly recommend any class she teaches. She's the best!

Quinney was amazing! I took three classes from her and bought both her books. She thinks really hard in class, and your expected to do the same. If I were a Romantic poet I would want her to teach my works. She made Blake almost make sense.

-Prof. Quinney is a very agreeable person, but, for a member of the all-star English department at Brandeis, she truly lacks the required intelligence and drive. There are many younger and more motivated teachers who would kill for her position and would possibly fill it better.

Laura Quinney is a jewel, a love, a wonder, a prize. She is brilliant, passionate, and incredibly helpful. Re: what another student said about being too accepting. Take another look... you'll her rankling every time someone says something dumb, Q's just incredibly subtle about redirecting these comments. Everyone in my class loved her!

Passionately commited to what she was teaching and to giving us time and atention. She made me realize why someone would spend their lives thinking about poetry. She seemed to know most of it by heart, and made me see why she would. Take any Quinney class.
