She may seem to know what she's talking about, but there's a difference between giving constructive criticism and just being a b*tch. She makes very harsh "jokes" that make your jaw drop. She makes you start your painting over if she's not pleased and then b*tches about you not having it done on time. AVOID THIS WOMAN AT ALL COSTS!

People are way too sensitive...if you can't handle criticism, you shouldn't be an art major. Yes, Laurie could be harsh sometimes, but I considered this to be a gift; she is being honest and truly wants her students to improve. She pushed me to explore new mediums and techniques.I thought I would hate her class, now I love painting in mixed media.

Laurie works very hard and is a fair person if you stand up for yourself and your style. She can be controlling, but stand up for yourself intellegently and you might gain her respect. You will work hard in her class.
