Ask specific questions during lecture on stuff he hadnt explained well enough and you should do well on exams. Read the plays and comedies to pass his writing assignments. Your in for a hilarious ride if you arent prepared you might get sidetracked and laugh rather than do your work. Finish on time and proofread, youll get a B.

I was really curious about this class, but after taking it I guess it wasn't what I had in mind. It's hit or miss in terms of interesting material. Mostly about plays. Only 2 papers/projects and 3 quizzes that are easy as long as you take notes and pay attention. I wouldn't bother with his anthology textbook, you can easily find PDFs online.

I thought Larry's class was a pretty good experience. I had to add it last minute but am glad I did. If you show up and listen, its going to be pretty easy. Just a few short quizzes, and 2 laid back take home projects. Plus, the plays we read were cool too. You'll learn a lot about the history and backbone of comedy.. good class overall.

He's a good teacher, but a strict grader. Since attendance wasn't mandatory I did find myself skipping a few times. Not necessarily a hard A, but I feel like the reason I earned a B+ instead was because I procrastinated a bit. As long as you take notes, do the readings and spend time with the projects, you should be fine

Teacher was decent, but this class is dumb. We had to buy a useless textbook that we can't sell back to the bookstore. Attendance is optional, but if you don't go, you might miss out on info on the test. Test are stupid, questions are from stuff he discuss in class.

This class wasn't exactly what I expected. He is a lot more informative then I was expecting. He definitely likes to talk about his accomplishments. There's no role call but if you want to pass the tests with a decent grade should attend class and take notes! There are some fun elements to the class like stand up comedy by students in the class.

he's pretty into himself and doesnt teach well at all. name drops a lot and always talks about himself. He had aids help him grade so you had a chance to get a decent grade in the class. IF you really want a good laugh, this isnt the class for you. wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. Only good thing about this class are easy tests.

Not a very good teacher at all. He's absolutely consumed in himself. He wrote his own expensive textbook that is just an anthology of plays found anywhere. He grades harder than you would expect for a theater teacher and his class isn't very fun.

The class itself is not that bad but Larry is a pompous jerk. You can't ask him any question without getting a smart ass answer. He loves the sound of his own voice, he loves to name drop and is pretty much the most arrogant person you will ever meet. The tests are easy but if you hate condescending people run away fasssst.

I think people are being too harsh. Eilenberg is an incredibly smart man who has done lots of impressive things. He didn't come off as arrogant to me. The plays you read don't seem like comedy though, so you don't actually laugh a lot or anything. Take the class if you like old Shakespearean plays, not if you like comedy. He grades hard too.

Took him for Art of Comedy. Cool videos, interesting subject. AWFUL teacher. Super into himself, loves to hear himself speak. The class was fun for the topic, but not for this professor. Completely arrogant and yawn-worthy. DON'T come into class late.

This guy is a complete jerk when it comes to asking him questions. He's really arrogant but the tests and projects are really easy, so don't sweat it. You just have to get over the fact that he's mean, but he has great guests come in and perform.

Easy class. Cocky, arrogant, and mean. Show up and you'll get an A. He isn't helpful. I talked to him outside of class once and he said because I didn't understand something, that I must have missed a lot of class... but he missed more class than I did. He name drops and has a temper. This class isn't funny, so don't take it for a laugh.

he can be harsh if you are late or talk back to him, but he knows his stuff. A bit self-centered. Not a difficult class. Lots of videos, 3 easy tests. It was great to have this as my last class on Tue/Thurs because I laughed a lot! Don't take if you don't go to class because you don't learn anything. Text are plays that are funny and easy to read.

Larry seems like a pretty cool guy, and I thought the class was fun. He shows a lot of comedy in class (movies, stand up, etc) which is awesome, and the projects are fun to do (although he's a tough grader). Lots of readings, which are mostly plays, pretty boring. I didn't read em, but I did get a C. Fun class, but you have to really work for an A.
