This was horrible. Like everyone already said, Guillow lectures A LOT. His lectures are not engaging whatsoever. He does not tell you what he is looking for when he grades and does not give feedback. Would not take again.

I took Guillow for Fall 2018. His class is okay but its horribly boring. There was a Midterm, a quiz, a paper on a museum visit, and the final. He gave us free passes on other irrelevant pop quizzes as well as free points on the final for showing up to class on the last day of lecture. I would choose another professor before picking this class.

if you are one of those who does not like to do a lot of homework and writing, he is the best option you will probably have, you only need to take notes that you are going to use for the midterm and final. literally we only had 1 quiz , 1 midterm 1 project and the final. if you are good at taking notes this class will be easy.

I took Professor Lawrence Guillow and he is very passionate about History. He goes in detail in his lectures which make him a good professor, he knows what he is teaching. If you take him, make sure you write the notes/slides before hand, which will be on his website, so you can be prepared when he talks about important stuff not in the slides.

His lectures were really interesting and all his notes were basically what you were supposed to write on the final essays, you get options on what to write for the mid term and final which are essays

I took Guillow during the quarter system and he was horribly boring. I would fall asleep the second I got into class because hed go off on tangents about history that werent really relevant to the reading material.

This is one of the most easiest class. I got good grade on the midterm, because I mentioned a lot laws. Overall, sit in the front and take notes are my tips. Not everything he mentions is in the PowerPoint. Go over his PowerPoint and do self repetition 10x times is borderline to get a high B or above.

Lawrence Guillow is a cool professor. However, his grading criteria is complete trash. 1 Midterm essay, 1 paper on museum visit, and 1 Final essay. He gives you an option between 2 prompts for the essays and basically grades you on whether you provided enough information about the prompt or not. His class is not engaging whatsoever.

4 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 essay, no hw. for both tests there is an essay(you get two prompt choices the week b4) and choose four questions on the readings. what you have to do to get a good grade on test is write as much as you possibly can, even if you feel like you already answered the question KEEP WRITING. oh and do NOT buy txtbook

#1) took history with prof Alvarez and failed Retook with Guillow and got an A. No joke! Really dope professor. Quizzes, 1 essay (about a museum and class ), midterm, and final. Sounds like a lot but really not. Map, about reading, & fill in your name quiz. Midterm and final include 1 big essay and 4 small ones (about the reading). Dont worry he..

#2) .. tells you what He looks for curves. Midterm 44100 I got C. I did good on the quizzes. And filled up every page for the final and got a good grade. If you do 10 points better in the final than midterm he drops the midterm and doubles the final. Lectures long. Try your best & forget the rest. He can be mean. DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK. Recommended!

He's a very fun professor but he can be hard on grading when it comes to the midterms and finals. For the midterms and finals you have to memorize the material that he talked in the powerpoints. You need to use the book but it can be helpful. He gave out 2 quizzes and he gave out two extra credit worth a quiz grade. Got a C in his class

Easy grader, as long as you go to lecture, and does what he tells you, passing will be no problem. I had a f on the midterm and was down, got an A on the final and passed with an A. His lectures are very interesting, you will learn something new every time.

Tough grader. Recommended that you write coherently, study well, and follow the syllabus. Leads good discussions. However he was unclear at one point mentioning about an assignment so be always prepared or ask questions.

Easy, but boring class. Not a a definite A however; you gotta really study hard for the exams since he wants a lot of details. That's when the book comes in handy.

This professor can talk all day. He has some very interesting stories, but when it comes to tests and quizzes, he expects you to remember every word that comes out of his mouth. Lectures can sometimes be boring, but he always shares his stories to make it interesting.

He has two exams, which is the midterm and final. His lectures are very boring, just read over his Power Point. His exams are based on what he talks about. The book isn't really needed. The only downside is that he may somewhat grade hard on the exams because he specifically wants examples.
