Comment:
As I am not a natural science major, I found the subject to be boring at times. Nevertheless, Dr. Pinsky is great lecturer. The class itself has a lot of assignments- 10 homeworks, 3 exams, one final and top hat quizzes. To assure that you pass, go to class, do ALL of the assignments and study for the tests. He gives practice tests to study from.

Prof. Pinsky is a rare university professor who you can tell enjoys the material he is teaching. If you have any interest in Astronomy, you will probably find his lectures to be fascinating and very informative. Make sure to show up to class and study previous exams, and you're most likely going to get an A.

I love Pinsky as a professor. That's my boy. It was among one of the easiest courses I've had - the trick is to READ! I can't tell you how many people wanted to piggy back or complained about everything and didn't even bother to read or show up for class. I have no sympathy for those that got a less than excellent grade when it was easy to do so.

Class was easy. Practice tests are just like the tests except the answer choices are worded differently or oppositely. He has pop quizzes at the beginning of class using an app called TopHat. I suggest doing the HW with someone else, so you can get a 100 easily.

I took this class thinking that it would not be that difficult. Well I was wrong, the professor makes everything so complicated with everything. He makes you pay for tophat which affect your grade if you don't them. His tests are like the SAT which makes me very upset because you become doubtful of your answers! He's also always out of the country.

This class is harder than it should. Take another class. The exams are just like the practice tests but the grading is different kind of like the SAT. Tests are very hard. Top hat is required. Attendance is not required powerpoints are on blackboard. Take another class.

Easy A class, make sure you study old tests. Attendance isn't even mandatory anymore because you can just do the tophat at home, so going to lecture is just a waste of time.

He's a great teacher and if you focus on his lectures and have time to read the book you'll pass. If you don't go to class you'll miss poppers. This class is one that I feel deserves extra attention

Grades based on 3 exams, HW that adds to the weight of 1 exam, and 5 random pop quizzes (ALSO ADDS UP TO WEIGHT OF 1 EXAM). Attend class because missing pop quizzes hurts you A LOT. Tests aren't hard and I made A's on all of them, but pop quizzes screwed me over cause I missed all but 1 of them. He won't tell you how much they're worth if you ask.

Very interesting lectures. Tests are very hard, but the way he grades makes it not so bad. Don't waste your time memorizing equations, if you understand the concepts, he will give you credit for it.

Very good professor. I was interested in this subject and went in the class with no previous knowledge and got an A. Pay attention to the slides and what he says because that helps for the HWs. Look at the practice exams because he uses the same format except changes what the question is asking. Final is optional and can replace lowest test grade.

You learn alot about the universe and how it works. Awesome class. If you put forth some effort you will get an A. Pop quiz questions are super easy. You get multiple attempts on the HW. and the tests are similar to the reviews he gives. I highly recommend taking this class.

Very helpful, answer all questions before he goes into his lecture. 3 Test that are easy if you do the sample tests he gives you. Drops your lowest test grade,Final is optional if you have a grade that you are happy with. Homework is easy and added up to count as a test grade. He sometimes is not there, but when he comes back he reviews slides

So I took this class hoping for a class that was possibly challenging but would get me to learn a lot. I have learned a lot but it did not reflect on my grade. Before this I had a 3.9 GPA.. Bye bye!!! The grading system screwed me over. I really was confused purely by the wording of the exams.. It was a DISASTER. But I did learn a lot.

Dr. Pinsky is the best. I took his 1305 and am now in his 1306 astronomy class. I had never had a physics class before, but he is excellent at explaining everything. He has an obvious passion for astronomy which is contagious. He even will tolerate my crazy, off-topic. Questions after class. Highly recommend.

EXCELLENT class!! Show up and follow along with the downloadable lecture slides and you'll pass. It's easy. Book not necessary but is a helpful tool. Do the online homeworks! The practice tests he posts are almost identical to the actual ones so DO THEM. He drops lowest test grade so final might not be necessary. TAKE THIS COURSE!

Fascinating class! Dr. Pinsky is obviously incredibly intelligent and has a passion for both physics and astronomy. I learned a lot! Attendance mandatory if you want an A. Homework assignments pretty easy. Very helpful towards students and pretty much gives you the exams to study. Highly recommended!
