Learned a lot from this course. Alwan provides a lot of material. He seems to really care about the students learning the material. Does require a bit of weekly time management but all reasonable.

Amazing amount of online organization put into this class. Starts you from the very basics and quickly gets into a lot of really useful and relevant material. This is not a cookie cutter course. Quizzes are easy if you are on top of material. Alwan responds really fast to questions. Final was a challenge but nothing that wasn't covered.

Hardest class I have ever had. Spent 20+ hours on the final. Taught at such a high level it was too hard to understand. He knows his stuff, but he's not very good at conveying it in his lessons. Unless you have an extensive background in stats I would not recommend taking his class. Referred you to slides that didn't make sense in the 1st place.

I took this course online and the professor really took the time to make clear and well written presentations. He was readily available by email or the online discussion forum. Would take another class taught by him.

As a humanities major, math and stats are not my thing. I dreaded taking this required stats course. But, I really enjoyed it. Professor Alwan was humorous and really was into the material. He was helpful during lecture. Exams were tough. I got a grade higher than based on my %. He must have took mercy.

Professor Alwan knows his stuff but didn't seem interested in teaching the class. When students asked for help, some of his responses included "I don't have time to answer that," "we already went over that," and "just review the notes." Easy grader on homework. Exams were open notes. Wouldn't recommend.

Prof Alwan did a good job of encouraging people to participate and ask questions. I thought his quizzes got easier throughout the course, but that may have been just me dusting off my 20 year old math degree. I would definitely recommend Layth as a professor, especially for online classes.

Dr Layth Alwan is a caring teacher. Throughout the course he encouraged the students to participate in discussions and urged them not to slack off. I think he understands most of the students have busy lives to live and did not make the course very difficult, yet relevant and practical. I'll take his class again.

Professor Alwan did a very good job teaching a tough subject, especially it being all online! If you don't keep up with the lectures online and study for the quizzes, you will make a tough course impossible. I would recommend Professor Alwan for this course!

Great Professor, Really knows his stuff. But you have to put in a lot of hours to keep up with his pace of teaching. If you really are serious about stats. attend his class. But acan't afford to miss even a single class.

He is so into statistics but not in a nerdy way. His lectures are clear and he does a great job explaining concepts. Problem is the material that makes senses in his lecture is hard to retain outside of lecture. Great professor.

I am in my last semester of the MBA program. Looking back a handful of profs were exceptional. Alwan for statistics and McBain for finance. Alwan took a difficult topic and made it understandable. Always helpful. Really knows his stuff. Exams are tough but it is statistics! Great prof, can't go wrong.
