I guess I have taken AP calculus in highschool but he was very easy. The only problem was he goes really fast because every equations he introduce he'll prove it. He's really smart but you have read ahead before class starts to understand.

He is a nice teacher but he can't teach at all. All he does is write definitions. He is very boring everyone falls asleep in class. His tests are impossible there is no way you can ace it. The tests are always full of surprises and it gets harder and harder everytime. He tries to be funny by telling jokes.

HEs an alright professor he just uses really obscure problems from the book. Half the class is failing but he still has a regular curve. I think 60+ was a B. If you take him really really really read the material through becuase he doesn't go over whats on the tests in class.

Ferguson assigns a lot of homework problems each lecture. His exams are difficult because they cover definitions of Calc terms (like limits), as well as the more confusing problems that one usually skips when reading the book. Don't enroll in the course if you haven't had some experience with Calculus in the past. If you do enroll, read the book!

he's really nice teacher, but he's an horrible teacher. His lectures are extreme vague all he does is write proofs on the bored and shows useless examples. Don't take his class unless you are already fimilar with the material and willing to teach yourself or just go ask your TA. He's nice old man, but he sucks at teaching. T_T

DO NOT take this class unless you seriously need it. it's one of the most rigorous and difficult classes at UCR, and Dr. Ferguson is the only one teaching it. He curved just a little but that was because almost the entire class failed the midterm. if it wasn't for my TA i would have failed this class. don't take it if you don't need it!

Don't take this guy. Makes you do a lot of homework and just loses them. Theres one week left and he still hasn't mentioned any kind of curve. There should be though since the majority of the class are failing. Let's hope there is!

I had to withdraw from this class because his lectures are so unclear and he sucks at teaching! The review for the midterm sucked and helped none. I would have failed the class and I got an A in MATH9A so what does that say?

His practice mid-term was NOTHING like the real exam. The Homework assigned does not apply to the test in any way. He expects us to understand the overall concept and not how to do specific problems. KNOW YOUR CALC before going!!!!!!! (As we sit in class at this very moment)

Extremely helpful and approachable during office hours. Lectures my be dull, but are nonetheless helpful. He basically gives you the code for the programs, so I dont see how its so hard. Overall, good teacher and very willing to help if you need it. Just go to lecture and you'll get a good grade.

Killed me on the homework, beware. This course really should have lab section for the special programs, translating code from matlab to scilab is a pain, expects students to have working access to a printer in the morning. Very unclear about programs. Unreasonable homework turnin policies.

strict on homework due, make sure you get to his class early to get the homework in. terrible lectures...tends to start off loud then gets quiet at the end of his breath. the exams are fairly straightforward though as long as you go through the homework. still...it's not worth going to lecture for.

Not a good teacher. Tells the same stories multiple times, never looks at class (lectures to some unidentified point near the upper back corner of room), too stringent about homework due times (must be on desk BEFORE bell rings or half credit--traffic happens!!), generally a boring teacher. Avoid.

He sort of meanders about, and likes to put proofs up on the board, even if no one understands the proofs. He assumes that you won't understand anything anyway. Go to your TA, or better yet, avoid Fergueson.
