You have to be interested in the topic to really enjoy this class. Dr. Bedal is really knowledgable about anthropology and she loves talking about her personal experiences. Lectures are pretty much a conversation based on the readings. Really interesting class.

Comment:

Dr. Bedal is passionate about what she teaches. The class was bearable, but it requires a lot of reading from the textbook. Tests aren't hard as long as you study, and there are always bonus questions. She also offers additional work for extra credit. Make sure you participate in class!

Really liked this class. Talks a lot more than what is on her slides during lectures. Typing notes is probably the way to go. Difficult exams, but easy to study. Really interesting subject, but lectures can be boring. She cares for her students.

Very knowledgeable and passionate on the subject, though it was uninteresting to me for the most part. Lots of reading, but if you do it the class is easier. Online quizzes weren't too bad and the midterm was easy if you study

She's definitely one of the more knowledgable and passionate professors at Behrend. But she can be very particular and knows exactly what she wants from students. Studying is a must.

You have to read the textbook and classes usually consist of her lecturing. Content was rather dry for me, but ultimately it was not a hard class. At least show up for in-class group exercises. Those are tricky, but if you tried, you'll score at least a 15/20. The online quizzes are fine if you studied. Dr. Bedal is very knowledgeable and helpful.

All about reading the textbook, and honestly the book for this course is not a very tough read. She's weird, she's a little bit of a know it all but I really don't think she tries to be. She went to Cal-Berkeley and UPenn, and is in charge of some big excavation in Jordan; she's just very intelligent. Her tests are easy. She gives online quizzes and in-class group activities, not a hard class. Easy high A with only about 3 hours a week of work on your own time.

Dr. Bedal definitely knows what she's talking about, and she does a great job of giving you her knowledge. Reading responses were very fair (pick 5 of 11 through the semester). Read and attend class, you'll have no problem with exams. If you have questions, Dr. Bedal is happy to help during office hours. You'll learn a lot in an interesting class.

Bedal is very enthusiastic, and she condenses all the information to make it easier to understand despite the incomprehensible words! The tests are not hard if you review the study terms she gives you for each section and GO TO CLASS. She gives you all the resources you need to pass, but you still have to work for it.

I knew nothing about Anthropology prior to this class. Grades as if we were getting a PhD in Anthropology (which I have discovered is a waste of time). Extremely boring class. Tip: No matter what your true opinion is, write your assignments to suggest that women and minorities are oppressed. You will get a better grade.

This class was absolutely awesome. Exactly what i had expected out of a class with Dr. Bedal. The readings were interesting and so were the lectures. if you come to class prepared and enthusiastic there should not be any reason to you can't receive an (A )for the course. Again awesome class. Take at least one Anth with Bedal. You won't regret it.

I adored this class - I thought Dr. Bedal was a fantastic teacher. She was clear about what she expected, she was excited about what she was teaching, and she provided all the information to do well in the class on her PowerPoints. (I will say this: I never took my textbook out of the amazon packaging and still managed a high A - so there's that.)

This class was amazing. I knew nothing about anthropology until this class. Bedal was very kind and helpful and her enthusiasm radiates when she is teaching. Study and work hard and you will be just fine. I have taken two classes with her (A's in both) and am going for a third

Comment:

So-so teacher. Mostly powerpoints and film clips for her lectures, which can be boring. Tests are part multiple choice and part short essay, and not really that easy. Study your notes from class and definitely read the book. The semester project was very time consuming, required 2-3 journal entries per week and a final paper.
