Quite possibly the best professor/class I've had at AU. Prof. Steinhorn gave our class the ultimate experience in covering the election, leading thoughtful and challenging discussions. He also showed immense knowledge of U.S. politic, and he made everyone in the class feel comfortable enough to participate. A must-take class for an election year.

A top-notch professor. Engaging lectures, cares about his students, extensive/meaningful/timely feedback on papers, and good experience in the field. In a course on a crazy election, I looked to him for wisdom and perspective. Can't find a reason someone wouldn't want to take his class!

I've never written a review of a professor but Steinhorn is one of my favorite professors! I actually know what PR is an am excited about it. He is encouraging and helpful and wants you to come to office hours. There is a lot of reading, but the articles are interesting and you don't have to read EVERY case study/article to do well.

He's a legend at AU. Engaging lectures, cares about his students, goes the extra mile, amazing feedback on papers. I feel a lot smarter in communications and PR, and lots of other things, because of this class. Take him.

Comment:

Brilliant professor who cares about students, makes us think, and teaches at the highest level. He taught us how to think and it has made me smarter, more observant, and intellectually deeper. It's not an easy course, but the way he teaches it makes the rigor enjoyable. Take him. A good guy and not many like him.

Outstanding prof, very smart and knowledgeable. Deeply cares about students and what they learn. Lots of reading but all very interesting. Interesting assignments. Knows a lot about field and wants students to gain that knowledge. A good and interesting guy who really loves to teach. Visit him in office hours and enjoy the conversation.

Understanding the Baby Boomers - INCREDIBLE class, by far my most interesting at AU. This is the one class I was actually sad when I had to miss it because "lectures" were so interesting. Definitely do the reading because class discussion requires it! A visit to office hours will take forever because he's so interesting to talk to-definitely do it!

He is the guy behind the guy. Could not possibly be more student centered. His office hours are always a zoo because everyone wants to talk to him. Such a good guy. Knows whats up. He always has genuine words of encouragement and criticism. Take him if you are lucky enough to get a chance.

Steinhorn was part of the reason I switched my major from Journalism to Public Comm. He was always an engaging professor and, yes, made you work for your grade, but isn't that the point of college. I highly recommend and I graduated in '99.
