I enjoyed this class more than I expected to. I loved his straightforward, tell it how it is approach. I connected more with that than the approach most ED teachers take which is telling us what they are "supposed" to tell us.

Funny how all the comments state that he was the "best prof ever", over and over again. Must be the same person, because Stegink was FAR from being a good professor and many of my Calvin friends agree with me about that. I am still dumbfounded as to why this guy was revered at Calvin or how he even got to be teaching there in the first place. Bad!!

My best professor ever. At first, he comes off as a bit of a curmudgeon. However, he has a great sense of humor and truly cares about his students. I was very nervous during my first observation of teacher aiding, but he was so encouraging and solidified my desire to teach!

This man does not belong in a classroom. He does not have the right attitude to be teaching students that are future teachers. I am surprised he has even lasted in the teaching profession this long. I did not like him, and the majority of students I have spoken to about him did not like him either. There have been many complaints about him.

so glad i stuck out the first 2 weeks of class--he was grumpy at first, but really, a great guy. the class is a LOT of work, but totally worth it--you will come away really understanding the material.

I can't believe what I am reading about this professor! I took this class and found him to be totally uncaring and to be a complete jerk. He has an attitude problem that needs severe fixing. I would not be surprised if there have been many complaints to the university about this man. His attitude and lack of professionalism was just awful.

The very best prof to have for this course. Learn how to learn... its worth it. Lots of work but a very flexible schedule for the projects. You will know the material when you are done... you will not feel like this class was a waste of time. Very very good teacher!!! Very funny kind hearted man!

Stegink cares about every student he has and if you take the time to ask for his help, he will be invaluable. If you think he's grumpy, watch and you'll see he's really laughing the whole time. This man is one of the reasons that I'm a successful teacher. Make use of his classes and help!

This is the worst professor I have ever had. He is not typical of the quality professors found at Calvin. I don't believe that he cares about his students. And he is always in a horrible, grumpy mood. Take someone else if you can. You will have a great semester if you don't take his class.
