Comment:
Dr. Reid is a really great prof. He keeps class interesting and lighthearted. He also really cares about his students and you can always go to him for help with the coursework and outside of the coursework. The class grade is very test heavy making up 90% of the grade. Hw was harder than test but not graded and was a great preparer for the rest.

Dr. Reid was one of the best math professor's I have ever had. He is an incredibly smart man and can be very funny and lighthearted. I enjoyed going to his class however if you don't go you won't pass the weekly quizzes or the test. He knocks off your two lowest quiz scores and is very flexible with everyone.

I struggle with math already, and this prof did not make it any easier for me. He does all his lecture problems on the whiteboard, which is fine except his handwriting is horrid and moves way too fast. He is very scatterbrained and it never seems as if he's prepared for class. It was hard to follow in class and the only grades are tests.....

Dr. Reid is an excellent and caring professor, but the course moves kinda fast. Homework is optional, but highly recommended. These problems are way harder than the quiz and test questions, so you'll be well-prepared. The tests were weighted 20% each, and the final was worth 30% of your grade. Take them seriously!

I like him a lot. You don't have to go to class but he does not post his homework anywhere. Find a friend in the class to give you HW. Also, There are a lot of pop quizes every week. Study for those and test. Does not collect homework.

Always hanging around the department. He is willing to help on more than just the class he teaches. He is genuinely interested in your achievement. Tests are applied, so make sure to know/understand all definitions and theorems.

Dr. Reid is one of the smartest professors in the Math department, but boy is he scattered brain. He wrote our tests the hour before the exam was supposed to start and sometimes his quizzes had math errors on them. It wasn't clearly defined what was going to be on the exam/quizzes, so always ask. His office is an absolute mess, so beware.

In 533, homework was from the textbook and was not for credit. There were (almost) weekly quizzes instead that force you to keep up. The material on the tests was not particularly hard but there are so many questions that very few people could finish in time. Other than tests he is a great professor and would definitely take again.

Overall he is a decent teacher but personally, I thought he was rude. No use of myMathLab or blackboard, a classic pencil and paper class. Lectures were decent and you had to show up or else you were out of notes. Outside of class he was very willing to help me.

The class is hard and he will make you work for it. But he is very clear and knows the subject. Pay attention, take notes, and do the few assignments he gives throughout the semester and you will be fine. I am really hoping to take another class with him eventually!

Sometimes Dr. Reid's lectures are little bit too overwhelming and fast, but you can always ask him questions during and after class and at his office hours. You will get a satisfied grade if you do your homework and focus in class. His handwriting can be a little bit rough sometimes so don't feel dumb to ask if you can't read.

Calc 1 is not easy but Reid is a great teacher. Beginning of each class he answers all HW questions even if it takes 30 minutes of class. Sometimes he goes to fast but he will slow down if asked. He gives random HW quizzes but do all HW and you'll be fine (HW time ranges from 10 minutes to 60). Do all HW, ask ?s and study and you'll be fine!

I made A's in college algebra and in trig, but I was totally lost in this class. I only missed 2 lectures, always did the homework, hired a tutor, and never made a passing grade on a quiz or test.

Good professor. This class is very easy as long as you stay on top of the homework assignments. They are not for a grade but you have to complete them in order to do well on the tests. His notes are not always clear.. be prepared to learn from examples in the book at some points.

Tries to explain things, but isn't clear all of the time. If you ask him to slow down, he will. Offers to hold study groups before tests, which is helpful. I dropped the class because it was every day and it was too big a jump from my highest HS math, but I didn't find him to be that bad of a teacher.

Calculus isn't easy, but I took Calc 1 for the first time ever with Les Reid and by simply paying attention in class, doing the homework, and seriously studying for each test, I came out with a B. Also, some people in my class said they were taking Calc for the second time and Les Reid was may more clear than their last professor.

Comment:
Taken for both Discrete Mathematics, and Calculus I. Goes to fast and expects the student to instantly grasp the material. Strictness of grading seems inconsistent and based on his mood at the time of grading. If you take him be sure to do all of the homework twice or you will be left behind.
