There were about 3 books and 10 documentaries to watch, and each material required a review essay. If you don't feel like you can do that much reading and watching, this isn't a class for you. However, if you show your efforts on your writings than you'll be fine. Midterm and the final were easy if you're okay with writing a page-length essay.

Pretty easy class if you keep up with the work. Most of your grade is based on documentaries and book reports plus a midterm and final. The tests are based on lecture material but her lectures feel disorganized and it's hard to get the info that you need. She loves the subject though and her lectures are fun because of it.

AMAZING professor! History professors are either the devil or the coolest people you'll ever meet and she was so great! Super chill and sarcastic. Literally gives you the answers to the midterm AND final. Definitely take her if you need a history class!

YYYEEESSSSS!!!! what was below!!! She is so dumb. Grades with a whatever attitude, doesnt matter if you write a really good essay or paper, it just depends on when she is grading that will determine what you will be graded like!!! Really unprofessional too, her behavior. I would not take her class again ever!!

A really bad Professor. She grades "willy-nilly", one day u might get a perfect score, the next day you will lose 3 or 4 points. We came to the conclusion she doesn't really read the assignments and just skims them at best. She is also not very smart, kinda stupid actually. Easy class but u may end up sweating your A being an A- cuz she is stupid.

You can tell she loves history but her lectures were very boring & confusing. One midterm & a final, gives you the questions & essay topic beforehand for each. A book report due at the end and also multiple discussions which took hours to do bc of the super long videos & movies. Just make sure to NOT procrastinate but honestly take a diff professor

knowledgeable about the topic, but lacks enthusiasm. she seems passionate. Lots of homework, hard grader. gives video assignments that are 4 hours long each week and turn in a summary. everything is due at the end of the semester, so don't slack off. midterm + final, need 1776 for book report. gives the mc questions and the essay question before.

The class is pretty straight forward, she tells you exactly what to study for on the final, so make sure not to study last minute and pace yourself so that you can do all the assignments to the best of your ability. She has a lot of homework that she has you do and she has you read four books. Lecture is very interesting.

I got the chance to know Dr. Smithers throughout the semester. She is a very knowledgeable person outside of her lectures in class & has so much to offer her students! She is so kind, caring, understanding, & hilarious! Her lectures were very interesting & captivating. I am so fortunate to have had her as a prof. I miss her class already!

She knows her stuff but you can tell she doesn't want to be there. Its somewhat easy to pass her class but her lectures can get boring but we almost always got out early. She doesn't ever respond to her emails and doesn't give feedback on assignments. Meet the min requirement pg # for assignments, quality is graded after the min pg # is met.

She seems like she's pretty sick of life and coming to teach is a drag on her life, but she's funny and she knows her stuff. There's 2 book reports, 2 writing assignments, midterm and final which she goes over before the actual tests. I'm a lazy person and found her class pretty easy so I would def recommend!

She is really laid back and tries her best to make sure everyone passes. The class can get extremely boring if you take her once a week, i would suggest having her class twice a week. We got out early almost all the time. have to read two novels and write an essay on them. She also gives questions you have to answer for each chapter. test are easy

I'm mad at my grade in this class, I handed everything in on time with a Grade no lower than an A yet I got a B overall! -_- She is funny and the lectures are not boring sometimes you watch a movie that is relevant so pay attention. She always go over the midterm and final 2 weeks before the test :) Still disappointed with grade but good professor.

This Prof did not check her email this semester. She even apologized to the class about it and still has not checked it at all. There were not many tests or assignments but that just means do not miss anything. We start in prehistory and spend a lot of time in pre Columbian times then zap to the present. It was rushed and she has too much going on.

two long writing assignments over sixty short answer questions long due before the midterm and final. attendance is mandatory because you get graded for it. you don't even need to pay attention to her lectures because during the last class before the test days she reads out the question and answer for the exact questions on the tests!

Professor Smithers is cool. She gives her own take on history, which is refreshing. There are 2 writing assignments (be as detailed as possible; she's picky), 2 exams (last one is non-cumulative) -- fill in the blank and essay. Attendance is mandatory, but she sometimes lets out early. Get a study group; ALL exam questions are reviewed prior!

She is a great professor!!! She really got me interested in the subject and is good at lecturing! She is pretty chill. Only two writing assignments, one midterm and a noncumulative final. Attendance is mandatory but she usually lets you out early anyway. I would definitely take again. She says to buy the textbook but you do not need it at all!

Professor Leslie Smithers is knowledgeable in U.S. History. She is a nice lady. Her lectures aren't long enough. She assigns two "book review" papers, two writing assignments and two exams. You must be present in class in order to take notes. Overall, Professor Smithers is a good professor.

Gives 2 long assignments but easy if you don't procrastinate and two tests which she basically gives you answers for. She's clearly knowledgeable on the subject as well as very passionate about it but she isn't so great at executing it to students. Check your e-mail regularly because class is often cancelled and attendance is a point for each day

Her class is easy. She does grade you on attendance, so show up even if you don't pay attention. She gives the answers to the midterm & final ahead of time so don't stress about those. Long assignments but follow her directions, you will do fine on them. 3-4 sentences is strictly enforced. Two assignments & two tests. Don't really need the book.
