Lucky enough to have this teacher before she retired. Her lectures were pretty clear so it made the class easier for me. A little effort got me more than an average grade.

She obviously loves what she does. Gets really into her lectures which makes the class interesting. Her exams are really hard but her study guides are worth way more than the actual exams. I loved her class, I'm bummed she's retiring after this semester.

Nelson is super passionate about what she teaches, which is nice. The most difficult part of the course was analogies. We only had a few quizzes and then all "tests" and the final were essays. The class overall was okay, I just had a hard time following when discussions would get too intellectual and off track.

I loved this class. Wasn't interested in Philosophy at all going into it but Prof. Nelson made it fun and engaging. Lots of reading but she gives you the notes for the test and extra credit opportunities. As long as you show up and write what she does on the board you'll pass no problem.

I liked Mrs. Nelson. Very easy class but you must read. The book is cheap because she put it together and contains homework and study questions. Lecture could be boring if you are not interested in the subject. I would recommend her if you interested in philosophy with a light work load.

Tests are ambiguous. When I asked her why she said "I don't have time to write good questions for my tests". Class is useless because she repeats over and over again what the book is already saying. Never goes deeper than the very surface of the readings. Homework will not help you understand but memorize. I thought she was a waste of time.

I found her to be very helpful and insightful. I enjoyed the class, but I struggle with essays. There was enough homework and extra credit options to make up for my okay essay grades. I definitely recommend taking Nelson.

I'll be honest, the class was pretty hard. I have a 4.0 and struggled a bit in the beginning, but after a while I caught on to her teaching style. You MUST read the book and take notes in class. She gives 5-6 quizzes with around 30 questions each that I found difficult, and 2 essays that I found easy. Very interesting, but not an easy A

As far as class structure went, it seemed very relaxed. Not much work was needed to pass. The teacher though is one of the few Humanities instructors that follows case studies and empirical evidence to support her ideas. She is very liberal in philosophy, but I guess that's what happens when you use evidence to support your arguments =) .

Her tests are INCREDIBLY AMBIGUOUS. I understood the textbook more than her, which was useless because the book is only good for the articles she assigns you to read. Go to lectures, because 40% of what she says will be on the test.

She is very opinionated and biased. She doesnt gra

Not a very good teacher. She truly enjoys the subject but has no teaching plan at all. She is a boring teacher and gives no notes at all. She just kind of rambles in class and doesnt really say what you need to know. She doesnt give you a timeline of when things are going to happen. If you find yourself in this class; to pass: ATTEND CLASS, write d
