I loved this class! I just took it because there is language requirement and everyone does Spanish, and I thought, hey, why not try something out of the norm? It was a good choice! The language is very difficult to learn but she helps you along and makes sure you understand a concept or grammar before we move on. Make sure you practice a lot.

This was a great class. I have had no exposure to Russian before, and had heard it was very difficult to conceptualize, let alone learn. However, it was the opposite! The class is set at a manageable pace nd uses a textbook that builds off of each chapter. You definitely have to come to class and need to participate if you want a good grade.

Honestly one of the worst environments I've ever been in. Made 4 people in my class cry and publicly humiliated students for things such as needing to use the restroom and not doing well on a homework assignment. Completely sporadic with grading and just reads from the textbook instead of teaching anything. Do not take her.

She's not bad. Although sometimes her lectures get boring, she is always patient and willing to help. She doesn't have any accent in speaking english or german, which is really pleasing to me.

She cannot explain the simplest of grammar topics. Her inability to explain makes paying attention in class a real trial. She makes it painfully obvious that she has no idea how to teach. Half of the time she treats her students like Kindergarteners, and half of the time she treats them like native Germans, which none of them are.

Totally unhelpful for learning basic German. Her lesson plans are her reading through the chapter, and then pointing at people to answer questions because she can't remember students names. Would not recommend at all.

She can speak English well, which is a good thing. But she's not a very good teacher overall. She relies completely on the textbook.

She is one of the worst professors I've had at Tulane. For 50 minutes, 4 times a week, she would stand up in front of the class and read from the textbook. Tests were based on the memorization of the entire chapter. When we were confused by this, she asked how we do things in the USA, because that's how they do it in Russia.

She is great! My favorite class and my favorite teacher. I learned a lot this semester and she was extremely helpful when I had problems. I definitely want to minor or major in Russian now and cannot wait to take another class with her.

Frau Lidia was an amazing teacher. As long as the people in class were concientious and involved, she was fun and easy going. The only troubles came when she tried to answer a question in English, at which point she didn't quite understand what was being asked of her. Other than that, one of the best teachers I've had.

She is a terrible teacher. She spends a long, long time teaching to the bottom or on unimportant stuff. Very easy grader. Made me forget about minoring and German and pray for the class to end.

Lidia made the class fun, easy, and organized. People who said she was unorganized must have had her when she was new. I'll definitely be taking her for 102.

Class can move slowly, but she this is because she really tries to make sure that everyone understands the material. Is very fair in her grading and tries to keep the class interesting. Also sometimes organizes class get togethers, like going to see a movie, and provides food.

I absolutely love Lidia. She is a delightful woman, and her classes are relatively easy. I learned enough to do well studying abroad, though she does go a bit slowly. I also agree that she is hot... and she also says unbelievably hilarious things without meaning to,

Lidia was perhaps not the best German professor but she gets points across effectively and tries to explain things as best she can. By the end of the semester, she speaks mostly in German which makes your listening-abilities improve. I recommend her as a teacher...she says really funny things in class.

Lidia is personally one of my favorite profs... she is completely insane and sometimes confusing, but she is usually a lot of fun and always willing to help... and has a very apparent interest in helping her students. Lots of extra credit, VERY lenient grading, really cool woman. And hot.

horrible, boring class. she basically ruins the german language. very unorganized, doesn't know what's going on. when someone asks her a question, she freaks out and doesn't explain anything. not helpful and let's the class drag on with slow learners. avoid her like the plague.

Very organized, patient, kind. You always knew what was due and when and what to read. Homeworks almost daily, but manageable. Very interactive class, but did not make anybody feel intimidated or singled out. Only criticism - she sometimes let the 'slow learners' drag the class. Overall, great!
