If you are a Media or Tisch student, take her for Texts and Ideas: Objectivity. Ideas are very interesting yet solely based on media perspective. If you are a scientific person, prepare yourself to be frustrated as she does not understand science and mathematics and their importance in the history of knowledge.

Prof. Gitelman is a very nice lady. She is always willing to help. Her tests/quizzes are really easy (open notes and book). I did not like the readings she chose. She grades pretty harshly when it comes to easy assignments. Pretty good teacher, but not automatic A.

Difficult prof to please. There's a paper due every week on Fridays/Thursdays. The exams aren't easy, but what's going to be on the exam is always made really clear, so if you fail it's your own fault. Not an easy A, and sometimes the topics are boring, but she's not a bad teacher. Only take if you are 100% interested in media studies.

I had a tough time in her class because some of the readings she assigned were really confusing! Lisa Gitelman is a really nice professor though. She's always willing to help you with your work.
