Comment:

While I understand the criticisms of Prof. Keller I can say that if you enjoy history and want to learn the most you possibly can, take her classes. She is tough but a good teacher that brings the most out of her students. Just don't screw around in class, that should be easy but you'd be surprised by some people.

Prof. Keller is very rude. She once assigned 100 pages to read in a 3 day period and when a student asked what a word meant she screamed at him for not looking it up. Will assign a boat load of textbook work and then send you articles at the last minute for you to print- and god help you if you forget one. Avoid her classes if you can.

Keller's rude. Someone above said she picks favorites and they're 100% right. I was one of those favorite and even I think she was a mean person. You can't say anything she won't like or she'll embarrass you in front of the other students. She once embarrassed a girl so badly, the girl left the class. Be ready for it if you take a class with her.

Best professor I had in my time at Purchase. Initially intimidating, especially for new students but a wonderful professor. She does expect you to treat college like college, you are paying for it so you should show up on time and pay attention. Read, don't forget your texts, and try to answer questions and talk, even if you don't think its right.

I love her, but she tends to pick favorites in her classes. If you don't do the readings or participate, you won't be one of them. She's very clear with what she wants and outlines everything. make sure to get everything done on time and she knows when you've done it last minute. brilliant woman. takes a while to get things back to you

The worst class I've ever taken. She thinks your entire college career revolves around her one class. She doesn't give a crap , she will assign you 50 pages to read then email you 3 other print outs to read as well. ALWAYS throws extra work at you. Condescending, she literally stares at you stupidly in class if you say something wrong.

For those who say that she has control issues and is evil haven't given her class the real attention it deserves. If you aren't serious about her class, she WILL call you out. Put pride aside, you will learn a great deal. She has a specific teaching style. If you aren't ready for her fierceness (think judge judy), don't take the class. I love her!

I LOVE HER! She was a kind of strict and intimidating at first but she really makes sure her students do the best they can and understand the material. She also brought in food and coffee and I really enjoyed the class overall, though I would recommend attending every class possible because if not, you may fall behind.

Lisa Keller is a brilliant woman who gets a bad rap for telling it like it is. If she thinks you have done fine work, she will let you know. If she thinks you have done awful work, she will let you know. I personally love her attitude about teaching and found her class to be stimulating, rewarding, and fun.

Dr. Keller is one of the smartest women I have ever met. I graduated in 2005 and still keep in touch with her! Unlike other professors at Purchase, she is tough academically. Once you get to know her as a person she becomes very maternal.

If you want to learn anything about history, feminism, and work ethic in general - Lisa Keller is one to learn from. Yes, she's tough and relentless, but often in a vindicated way. Don't take her classes if you're looking to easily fill a Gen Ed and slide by. Reading is a must, come prepared and you'll be fine.

I usually take RMP ratings with a grain of salt, but beware of Lisa Keller. She is a nasty, vile woman. She doesn't treat any of her students with respect, and is not fit to be an educator. I can understand being harsh on a students work, but to attack them on a personal level is uncalled for and unprofessional. Thank god she's leaving.

All I can say is, RUN, RUN, RUN! Don't even look back. Save yourself from definite torture. Oh, she has her favorites too. They just get a lower level of torture. Participation is a must. If you do she will rip you to pieces, if you don't she sends you to hell. Do NOT take her classes.

This teacher helps students in no way, the work she assigns are impossible. She tells you something is wrong with the assignment then gives no feedback as to how to fix it. She makes the class so hard and impossible students do not feel they can pass!!!
