Comment:

Good teacher but does not keep you updated with grades. She also takes forever to grade things and takes a while to answer back to emails (answered my emails 2 months later). You will have to read the books she assigns. Lots of homework, 1 midterm and 1 final, 2 papers (5-6 pages). Do the study guides, remember authors and dates.

Comment:

Kobuke Sensei is very knowledgeable about Japan, Japanese culture and Japanese literature. The workload for the class was heavy, but she was very understanding of individual student's lives and was okay with late work with viable reason. I learned a lot more about the history of Japan in this class, than I was expecting.

I really wouldn't recommend her online class. Isn't engaged with grading at all, still currently enrolled and I have no idea what i'm getting. Is nice as a person and teacher, but not very involved. If you like to know what you're getting in said class and are looking for engagement, don't take this one.

Avoid taking her if you want a teacher who is involved in your class. She was SO slow with grading and replying to emails. We took the midterm exam months ago and still haven't gotten our grade back. Grades haven't been updated since the first week. Needs to prioritize her class if she's going to teach. If you care about your GPA, don't take her.

Lisa is very helpful and nice. Makes the material as interesting as possible. She loves it when you actually speak up and talk in class it will actually save your grade because she gives you participation points. Lots of reading and memorization of the books & authors/ date they were active. A few short ppt presentation, 4 papers, and 2 Exams.

NICEST TEACHER EVER with most comforting smile EVER. A lot of history covered. She emails assignments ..sometimes late. She returned rough draft feedback kind of late AND never returned promised final draft feedback. BUT!- I learned A LOT -- you just need to be flexible sometimes. She is highly intelligent and taught me cool life aesthetics. LOVE U

I had Kobuke from JPNS 101 to 202. It was great really. She makes learning enjoyable. Does call on you during class, but if you enjoy learning the language, it shouldn't be a problem at all. Great professor. :)

she was my sub for another sensei only for a few days but i LOVED her! she is so patient, very clear and easy to learn from! i only had her for a few days but i could really tell that she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. i wish i had taken her class instead of Hackler Sensei.. =/

Super fun teacher. She makes references to pop culture in her lessons so it's interesting. She likes to laugh. Kanji quizzes everyday (5 kanjis), for oral tests she makes you bring in drawings or pictures to make it easier, activities with classmates so you can talk to hot chics/guys in class, and be prepared to be called on for questions.

Greatest teacher ever. Stays focused on the work, but keeps the subject upbeat and open. Has complete control of class, and often laughs with us. Dedicates many hours to help students stay up to par.
