Matheson is a great guy, has a wonderful sense of humor. The class was pretty easy and interesting. He tells you right out that he isn't there to grade on a curve or design a difficult exam. Overall, a great class and great professor.

Casual class that used a lot of films as texts (which I didn't mind at all!). Nice guy who knows a lot about Middle English / Scottish Lit. I can't say that I learned a whole lot in his class, but I did enjoy it. Grades easy, and very friendly. Too easy for a 400-level.

This class is the best general requirement I have ever taken! We watch Scottish films and read Scottish books as well as watch little clips that Professor Mattheson found on YouTube. He is hilarious and is not afraid of vulgarity with his word choice. He's a true Scot. I fully recommend this class for anyone who is truly sick of ridiculous gen eds.

I took this as an english elective and it was the biggest waste of my time. We spent 3 weeks of class watching Braveheart. Generally, the entire class was poorly organized and shouldn't have been titled a lit class, but more of a film class.
