3 hrs of redundant & circular lecturing. Often she will just read from her slides verbatim. During the entire semester she never learned how to work the projector, & each time the same student would have to come up & help her. 1 day that student was gone, so we spent the 1st 45 mins of class fumbling around till he showed up. This class is BORING.

I've taken several classes with Dr. Dennison. Her grading criteria is very clear. She is always available to bounce ideas back and fourth an truly cares about her students. Participation is required online every week. She teaches great classes and although it is not an easy A, the material is interesting and she is so enthusiastic! Highly recommend

Dennison organizes the course in a neat fashion, and it's always easy to know what is expected of you by the next class. There should be no reason why you'd miss a deadline for anything. Early in the course, I voiced a concern to her and she addressed it immediately. The grading is tough but not insurmountable if you know how to write.

She tried to make it fun and engaging. She isn't easy while grading papers, but fair. She is always available to help and answer questions. Overall great class!

She does expect a lot from her students, but I think of this as a positive thing. You will absolutely come out of a class taught by her knowing more than you did because of the amount of research put into papers and assignments (pick your information carefully). I greatly enjoyed the class and would gladly take another one from her if possible.

She expects you to be able to write like a senior and actually know the subject. You can't just write about the subject - you have to understand it and be able to do some in-depth analysis. There's LOTS of reading and you MUST use lots of citations in your paper. I found that around 30 (3 7-page papers) citations get you an A.

NOT RECOMMENDED for first year college students. I took her Western Civ. I class my Junior year as a HISTORY Major. Essay grading is very subjective and her expectations are very vague. Certainly not an amount of work for a 100 level class, more like a 300-level course workload. I liked her power points though :) I'll give her credit for that.

Her lectures are taught at the 100 level but she will expect you to turn in 400 level work. DO NOT take this class if it is your first semester at college because you will not hat the skill necessary to pass her class.

Pretty difficult, honestly. Got a C on my first paper and an F on my last one...not sure what was radically different. Yes, it is a freshman class, but as a hardworking freshman I am struggling to write one of her 5 pagers because they're so fricking complex. Great teacher with high expectations, but a little unrealistic as it is a 101-level course

Dr. Dennison has very high expectations from her students. A strict but just grader. Her classes are very difficult (Aim for 400 level instead of 100), so one has to put in a ton of effort order to pass. Exams are very demanding and require detailed knowledge of the subject. She put effort into the class and expects her students to do the same.

The professor seems to love her work. But, her class was really hard for a lower level course. Her lectures drag on. Her grading is all over the place. She doesn't give handouts or helpful info for any of her exams or essays that will help to decode the cryptic questions given.I would suggest taking another professor for any History courses.

I have taken many classes with Dr. Dennison, learned a lot, love her class! There are no tests just papers, and that can be a little difficult. She explains everything she is looking for & requires in the beginning & full disclosure on all the required reading. I feel she sets the bar high for students & wants us to learn to think for ourselves!

As a History major, I had never taken a class with her before, and therefore I didn't know what to expect. The class was okay content wise, BUT her paper grading is VERY UNPREDICTABLE. I didn't learn any new writing skills from her paper grading, this was the very first class that I had ever received anything lower than a B on my papers. :(

Took Historiography course. Worked harder than I've probably worked in any other course, but I loved it. No tests, just papers (including a 10-15 pager), class discussion and several group presentations. Loves her work and leads great class discussions. Became more impressed week after week with her. Learned a ton. No expensive textbook. Recommend

Dennison has an awesome attitude! She's kinda quirky, after my own heart, but she's really passionate about history...especially our topic on World War I. No tests, just essays, and great movies shown as well. Would definitely recommend this class.

It's evident that she absolutely loves what she does. Unfortunately, this was not enough. She spent way too long on the French Revolution. The textbook was fascinating and easy to read.

Took her for senior seminar and without a doubt this was the worst experience I have every had in history department. Unwilling to help students when issues arise and is never completely satisfied with the the students work. Do not recommend her to anyone for any class.

Liz was a fantastic professor. She was always clear and knowledgable in her lectures. She was very lenient, and is an easy grader if it is apparent to her that you have tried. There IS a lot of reading, but the papers aren't so bad and if you're not a slacker, you can get by just fine. She's funny, nice, and understanding. Just apply yourself.

I have had HIST 424 and 101 with Dennison. For the most part people giving her a bad rating are probably doing so because they found out they can't slack off in Dennisons classes. Just read the damn sources for your papers, quote every 100 words or so, etc. Imperial Russian hist (424) was very nice, just 3 papers and some extra stuff, no biggie.
