Killed my GPA. I tried so hard, met with a tutor, and still did not do well. Also, she questioned my accommodations approved by FSU disability services for a physical disability.

Holloway really makes you work for the grade, but she's still one of my favorite professors to ever have. She's funny and smart, but the textbook was pretty bland.

Professor Holloway builds a connection with her students. She is very funny, nice and understanding. However she can be pretty strict (and always jokes about hurting her students) The information is a lot to take in. I found myself working very hard on papers and still receiving not so great grades, but that is where foundations comes in!

Dr. Holloway as described on here IS a hard grader. You have to be dedicated to master the material. HOWEVER if you do your job, she does hers. She is always willing to help anyone who needs it and will go out of her way to make you understand something. She's funny and I respect her to no end. Take her if you want to ACTUALLY LEARN.

I took children's lit and British Lit with Dr. Holloway. She is the best professor I have had, hands down. Other students found her course difficult, but I had no problems. Her tests are application of concepts discussed in class as opposed to just regurgitating facts. She expects excellence, but is enthusiastic to help you get there. Super funny.

I took Romantic Movement with Dr, Holloway in 2000. She was one of the hardest teachers I have ever had and I learned so much from her. I had zero interest in taking the course but I ended up LOVING it. I do not think another teacher could invoke that much interest. SHE IS GREAT.

Took her for History of Children's Lit and Ancient Drama The hardest teacher I've ever had, but also the best English teacher I've ever had. All negative comments about her being sadistic or a mean person are false. She just does her job exceedingly well and demands excellence. You get what you earn in her class, you are not given anything.

Dr. Holloway was my first English professor at FSC. She was also the first teacher to ever tell me that I could NOT write. I was blown away when I received a D. However, I stuck with her and learned how to write well over the next four years. It was not easy but she did me the biggest favor by doing her job well and demanding excellence. Thank you!

Sadistically hard is right, or just sadistic. She LOVED constantly telling our class that we could not write and that no one had taught us anything. I am a good English major and I got my first D ever because she said I needed to refer to a `controling purpose' in every paragraph and she found a contraction. Not a nice or helpful person.

Holloway is a fabulous teacher. She is funny, smart, and helpful. She is sadistically hard, but in the best way possible- she will always push you to do better. It's true, you need to devote serious time to any of her classes and take them very seriously. 32%s on tests are not unheard of with her, so you have to focus focus focus.

So far, I've taken Brit Lit 2 and Women Writers with her. She's awesome! You definitely learn something, but you also have to devote serious effort to her class. She's always willing to help out, so definitely talk to her about papers (she grades them harshly). If you don't have lots of time to put in the effort, don't take her class.

Lots of grammar errors in her handouts and what she says on your paper, which sucks because if you make one she gives you a low grade - unfair. Obsessed with a controlling purpose, which is you telling her on every page what your paper is about as simple as possible so she can understand it quickly. She is funny in class though

Not as hard as people make her out to be. You have to go to class and take notes, but everything on the tests are in the notes. She gives a lot of work, but it's doable. She tells you what she expects of you and she means it unlike most professors. Those of you acting like it's too hard - we're in college now, it's not meant to be a piece of cake!

If you value your QPA IGNORE the comments here about how hard she works and how available she is - who wrote that? Our class average is a D and she loves telling us how unprepared and stupid we are. ASK other English majors! You've been warned!

not very clear and speaks poorly but takes delight in criticizing you for smallest of errors if you don't give ehr a simplistic controllong purpose in your essay. half the class has a D which makes her happy. avoid at all costs--she's really mean and unhelpful.

This professor will rip you apart. It doesn't matter if you can do well in every other course; she will destroy your GPA. Forget what people say about her being the best; she is just as bad as Beyer if not worse. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT EVERY COST! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

This teacher is one of the best i've ever had, incredible grasp of the material, incredibly smart woman. Mixes humor with her teaching and is incredibly available to her students. Tough grader, but not if you pay close attention, contribute and give her your full attention. Respect her and you will do well. Can't wait to take more classes with her!
