I took this class as a requirement, which is terrible on UH's part. Stock is super nice and really passionate about what she does, but if you're not as into it as her, she'll notice. She grades completely subjectively, based off of other people's papers, not a set grading rubric as she says she does. I made one grade above a B out of like 15 papers

This has become one of the most frustrating classes I have ever taken. This professor is very unorganized and can never keep up with her own syllabus. We take quizzes over the material and THEN she covers it in class a week or two later. We spend as much time watching film clips as we do going over the actual literature. Avoid taking if you can.

She's not very organized with her assignments on black board. Also she's a tough grader. Would not recommend to anyone.

I became very annoyed with this class. She gives quizes due on Monday then teaches the material that was on the quiz. We really had no reason to pay attention to her inclass as we had to learn the information on our own. She spent more time talking about her jewerly and books than the actuall material we where being graded on. Dont take her

She's really nice, but to be honest she isn't very clear or organized. I was surprised how all over the place she was. Very passionate about Robin Hood. Confusing and hard grader. Didn't get to see much of her movies. I felt bad because blackboard never worked for her. She helps a lot with her assignments but she's too broad and all over the place.

If there is any way to avoid her, do it. Doesn't give clear directions, then penalizes you. She's very unclear about her own expectations. If you interpret a scenario in the novel differently, she tells you that you are wrong. This is not a science class, English is full of gray areas. I didn't expect the class to be easy, but I did expect clarity.

Her blackboard is a mess. Weekly Quizzes; don't reflect the reading material, subjective questions but multiple choice, and technical problems galore. There are weekly videos to watch 90% of the time they do not load but they are part of the quizzes. She is unresponsive to any technical problems. 3 papers, 3 avatar papers (last minute papers)

I took Professor Stock's Chaucer class the hybrid version. The class wasn't too diffcult. The reading quizzes are pretty easy if you watch the online lectures. Make sure to put effort in your papers as far as the research and that your grammer is correct and you should be fine. I'd recommend her. And she's funny too.

Overall I really liked Dr. Stock, she's funny and witty but sometimes rambles on. She did put a couple people on blast about their writing. Papers were handed out and discussed openly about what they did wrong or right. (4) Paper's were fairly easy, weekly quizzes on blackboard (had a couple of complications). Very helpful and lenient on deadlines.

I had her for Robin Hood in Culture. I love her! She's fun and helpful. She does have a tendency to start a movie clip too close to the time to leave and then pause it way too much to talk about things that she has repeated before. Her quizes come stright from the reading and clips, and her assignments are entertaining. I'd love to take her again!

Wonderful professor! I took her Chaucer hybrid class and can honestly say it's one of the best courses I've had at UH. Lectures online, and an insane amount of resources and supplemental material that are helpful. 2 close reading papers, and a number of other assignments that were actually fun to do. She's great, I definitely recommend her class!

I had Dr. Stock for both Chaucer & Med. Lit. She makes classes completely entertaining. Her addiction to medieval lit is amusing. Attendance is required but if you come and engage in class conversations you will do great. If you do she will be more than happy to help with whatever you need.

She grades completely on stylistic choices, pray to god you agree with her stylistic choices. Some words she just dislikes and marks them wrong, when in fact, they are the correct words used correctly. She is obnoxious. On projects she is very unclear on what she wants. And misuses the word "Triangulation" constantly.

Prof. Stock will stack up on grudges against you if you err in any other way than her way. She is the almighty in her classroom, and this is not always out of expertise. Talking to five people - all hardworking scholars, she has undermined the individual's ability to think for him/herself and wants a true picture of her own ideas on finals.

Dr.Stock is a wonderful professor. She gets a bit muddled or runs long sometimes on something because of her enthusiasm for the subject, but usually that will just end up in you having more time to finsih the readings at home. Her grading is fair, and you will earn the grade that you get. Don't listen to the whiny freshmen and sophomores, take her!

Be careful with Professor Stock. You might get an A in your papers but a C in the class. Why? No one knows and she's not interested in telling you why. She is spontaneous and just way too busy to deal with students' interests, weaknesses, or problems. She does know Chaucer, though. That's just not enough for me, however.

Had her for Lit & film. The class is horrible! We watched Robin Hood and King Arthur movies and wrote about them! The class might seem easy but it is actually pretty hard. She is a REALLY HARD grader on the essays! If you dont know what to write on you will fail! She takes off ALOT for grammer and punctuation! She really enjoys teaching the class

She is a bit boring. Says to some their grade will reflect effort but not so much. If you dont know your grammer your screwed. She will fail you for a missed comma.
