This was my first philosophy course and although it was an online course, Prof. Matz made it enjoyable. He provided clear feedback on discussions and papers. Would definitely recommend to non-philosophy majors!

Honestly, I spent about 30 minutes to an hour a week on this class on average. He grades very fairly and the lectures help out a lot to understand the concepts of what he wants to test you on in the exams. He is a great instructor and understands that PHIL 011 is a course for non-majors and will treat the class accordingly.

Probably my favorite professor of all time. Cares about his students, adapts to their needs, and most importantly is genuinely thought provoking and seems to love his work. Well worth taking.

I majored in Philosophy at UOP and Lou was the best teacher of the bunch, although all of the rest are excellent philosophy professors.

He exports his brand of secular fundementalism and even claimed that "no real philosophers" claim there is a God or immortal human soul. Honestly.

Dr. Matz is very strong in teaching history of philosophy and metaphysics, but his Philosophy of Religion class was very disappointing. Much of this comes from his uncharitable views toward religion.
