Comment:
He gives the same test every year--memorizing financial aid facts. Why are we supposed to memorize something that we can look up? It changes every year anyway, so what's the point? This class demoralized me in some ways. He takes an interesting topic and makes you dislike it just by the method of his teaching. Do yourself a favor. Avoid his class.

Dr. Murdock is my inspiration for going into the field of counseling. I love the way he answers questions by restating what is being asked and then asking you to repeat what you are already confused about. It is magnificant how he uses the same syllabus for three different courses and then gets upset at you for noticing.

He lectures by reading his notes. We have group presentations recited by rote memory. This is a nightmare if you don't have a good memory. It's even worse for those listening. Completely auditory in learning style. Woe is you if you are anything but! Grades appear to be arbitrary. He times your presentations with, "Five minutes... Ten minutes!"

One very eccentric character. Seems personable enough but doesn't teach. Has ridiculous rules, grades don't correlate with performance and tests are so easy as to be insulting. True/false in a Master's program?

Dr. Murdock "refuses" to let you use notes, yet he doesn't really dock many points if you do. Tests are middle school level, and he treats you like it, too. He is condenscending to his students and does not accommodate any special problems a student might have. Gives students arbitrary grades and tests just to fulfill the requirements of his job.

Dr. Murdoc was the final straw in my decision to transfer to a different univeristy (one that he talked trashed on)!!! holla. In good conscience I advise you NOT to take this class.

Dr. Murdock was cool. I disagree with the other comments. He made learning fun and made the students think "outside the box". Yes, we had to do some of the work ourselves, but I learned new techniques and approaches in his class.

Rude to students. Doesn't know jack about career counseling, he makes the students teach the class for him and then pulls faces behind their backs while they are presenting. He won't allow you to use any notes while in front of class presenting.
