Hands down my favorite Simmons professor. Remarkably wise and attentive to the strengths and weaknesses of all of his students. Pushes you to succeed by creating a positive and encouraging environment.

Pei's classes are legendary. He allows enough space for students to be creative and express their minds, but also guide and keep them on track. He's very witty and respects the art of literature. Pei understands that writing is hard. Really hard. If you're having a tough time, talk to him. He's very approachable

The class was easy but his grading is not. He is very unclear with his grading standards so you may think you are doing the right thing to get an A in the class, but in the end he gives you a grade you were not expecting. I wish I had asked him what my grade was early in the semester so I could have a chance to bring up my grade.

I had Professor Pei for two semesters. I highly recommend his Creative Writing classes to everyone, non-majors and majors alike. He helped me grow organically as a writer. He was engaging, inspiring, genuine and brilliant, all the while being humble, funny, nice and totally accessible. Thank you Professor Pei!
