Comment:

Everyone was talking about how easy or fun their first year seminar was, this one sucks. Lucinda is a kind woman but very disorganized. There is only one grade in canvas right now, its finals week. The book she has us read is pretty pointless and is 600 pages. This class was a big waste of time in my opinion, and I love to learn. Good luck.

I took my first year seminar with Professor Damon-Bach. She is a nice person, but very unorganized. There is lots of reading and difficult reading materials. She never tells you when things are due and if you ask a question about an assignment she won't give a straight answer. We only took two field trips. I don't recommend this course.

Do not take this first year seminar! Especially with this teacher! Cindy may seem nice and friendly at first but she is certainly not caring. She assigns us a lot of homework (sometimes without even telling us) and she makes us read a book called Hobomok which is really difficult. She gets mad when we dont understand anything. Horrible teacher.

If you need to take American Lit DO NOT take it with Cindy. She is all over the place and everyone in the class is mostly lost throughout the whole semester. I barely passed and she does not explains things well at all and expects you to understand it. She is an awful professor, sweet and nice, but does not know what she is doing.

Nicest professor I've ever met. So sweet and down to earth. FYEN Salem by Land and Sea has a ridiculously hard book for the first half of the semester but you can basically read at your own pace because she doesn't care when you turn stuff in as long as it's in. Two field trips during the semester.

Very nice person but crazy unorganized. Is not very clear on assignments. helpful but only when you ask and are specific. goes very off on tangents but tries to connect it back. effort is there from her but class will drag and you will have to re-ask for clarification

I really do like Cindy as a person. She is kind, and would do anything for her students. However, she is not the best professor- she is unorganized, doesn't grade things, and her assignments make no sense. She gave us an essay prompt that was a page and a half long. She needs to work on organization, and needs to stop being so wordy.

Most confusing professor I have ever had. The work is easy but the way she explains it makes it impossible. She gives at least 3 different versions of the same assignment so you never know how to complete the assignment. Never puts grades in or gives any of our work back so you basically never know how you're doing. DO NOT TAKE!!!!

I would absolutely never take this professor again. She assigns WAY too much homework, meaning you have to read nearly 30+ pages every night along with writing a paper every night. Assignments are unclear and she is overall a very disinteresting teacher. You HAVE to print out your assignments and she will deduct points if you don't. Do not take her

i like this professor as a human being but as a teacher, she was one of the hardest teachers I ever had with so much reading you had to do in one sitting. But that just me. Sometimes it might be easy for you. Depends on who you are. My roommate took this class too and she had a better job then me.

I love Cindy! She's really caring and loves to hear what you have to say. If you do the Reading Responses and come to class with a quote to talk about, you'll pass. She was really helpful when I was sick for the midterm. I'd highly recommend taking this class or another class with Prof. Damon-Bach

Cindy is so kind/caring, but she is so confusing and all over the place. None of her assignments make sense, and whenever a student asks a question they end up only more confused. She never hands back assignments, and she doesn't use canvas so none of us know how we are doing.

I would recommend this professor. Honestly if you read, and show up to the lecture (which is a discussion of what was for homework, you'll get a good grade -highly likely an A. There's a midterm and a take home final. You have to read 20-40 pages every class meeting. She's such a nice/caring lady, too.

Cindy is a very nice woman. However, she is all over the place! Her assignments don't make any sense, she randomly emails you before the next class about more work to add on, her attendance policy is very strict, she messes up EVERYONE'S names. There's something due every class, and pretty much every Monday by noon, even though we don't meet then.

Papers due every class, but we never got any back. We got our midterms back, corrected them, then never saw them again. She would cut authors at the last minute, and canceled class without notifying anyone. VERY frazzled and unorganized.

I have never had a more unorganized professor. We never got our work handed back to us, there was a paper due every single class, and she was very unclear. I would highly recommend avoiding taking a class with her.
