Kaelber is a good professor because you can tell that he really cares about the material being covered and wants his students to feel that way, too. It took me a few weeks to get used to his oddly-placed jokes but once I did I grew to genuinely appreciate him. There's a decent amount of reading but he tends to go over the important stuff in class.

He cares about his students and emailed us constantly to make sure we have the latest news about the class. I appreciated his practice tests he posted and used on the exams. This made the exams pretty easy.

Definitely an interesting guy. His class set up is little strange and sometimes it feels like we are talking about subjects that are completely unrelated to the class. For example, we spent 10 minutes looking at a photo of a cow in his global deviance class. However, he is a bit of a silver fox

I took the online version of this class of deviance last year but had to drop it, then took the regular one this semester. You can buy the recommended textbook, if you just come to class, ask a few questions, and take notes on the powerpoints, you'll get good grades on attendance and exams.

Taught our social deviance class in a strangely insensitive way. There was pretty much no actual sociological discussion of the case studies we looked at. A nice guy and quirky but not inspiring or a great teacher.

We had a lot of discussion in this class, which I really liked. Lutz was always accessible and gave me helpful feedback on my research paper. Love sociology!

As long as you show up you will pass. He posts powerpoints online, and the exams are based on them. He's really interested in deviance, so he goes in depth with a lot of things.

Very good person to teach Soc. He is obviously quite passionate about sociology, especially pertaining to deviance and crime in society. His accent is awesome and he throws in jokes if you're listening which are pretty funny. Overall, not as personable as I would like, but he definitely knows what he is talking about and is eager to share info.

Kaelber is an awesome guy and his accent is so funny. This class had online exams which were very easy and in class case studies to complete. You really had to go every class because you didn't know if there would be a case study that day. There was one paper/video project where you just watched a movie. Go to class and you'll pass.

Super easy class. Go to class you'll pass. Randomly collects in class assignments but exams are all online and open book. Extra credit opportunity to bump grade by entire letter (B+ to A-). Tries to be funny, sometimes is. Lectures are interesting. Never used textbook but probably can help on exams. 1000pt class so lots of chances to get good grade

The class material was really interesting, and I liked the lectures. He's quirky, but once you get used to that, everything is totally cool. He says participation counts, but I don't think he knew who was there and who wasn't. Read the readings and take notes on the powerpoints and the tests are easy enough

Terrible teacher. If you take this class expect to read an average of 200+ a night. His tests and essays are harshly graded. He expects you to recall the most obscure details from the books on exams and never presents test material in class lectures. He is rude and does not connect well with his students. His jokes can be offensive.

Seriously, this guy is ridiculously hard on the papers, To the point its insane. If everything isn't perfectly the way he wants it, he gives you a 0 instead of deducting points like a normal professor would. I will never take another class with this professor

I really enjoyed this class. The material was always interesting however it sometimes got repetitive. If you go to every class you will have a good grade. He is very understanding and is very willing to help any student when they ask for it.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much you should avoid this class. The paper's are nearly impossible, and he takes points off for every little detail, especially referencing. He has ridiculous policies and isn't helpful at all. Seriously, avoid this class at all costs and take it with someone else.
