I took this class for GER 4B, and I ended up really enjoying it. Professor Gallivan explained concepts clearly and made class interesting. There were four tests plus final, but his study guides tell you exactly what to study, so the tests were not difficult. Attendance was important because of PollEV questions which counted as quiz grades.

Dr. Gallivan is the hottest prof at WM. He is an awesome professor and really cares about his work. His class is easy and very interesting. Study guides and review sessions before each quiz. 2 small projects outside of class. Very manageable workload.

Prof Gallivan is great! I'd never taken an archaeology class before and he made it interesting! Quizzes were pretty easy and you can choose a topic for your final paper, so it wasn't bad either. I recommend him!

Best intro class I've ever taken at this school. We were given study guides before each test. He also let us omit a few questions on each exam. No analysis is necessary, just rote memorization and regurgitation. I got an A and I studied for about 30 minutes before each exam. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great guy, very friendly and keeps lectures relatively interesting although the material is boring. Tests are incredibly easy, fill in the blank/short answer. Don't need to read the books but definitely go to class. He goes over a review sheet the class before tests that has the majority of the answers. Take this class for an awesome GER4.

Basically I want to be Dr. Gallivan when I grow up. EXTREMELY willing to help, easy to follow lectures, and tests are very straightforward. Very down to earth guy and overall wonderful. Great at bringing the subject down to a basic level and still able to get the important point across. Just take notes and go to class. No reason for anyone to fail.

Interesting class if you like archaeology. Powerpoints are pretty easy to follow and as long as you show up to class you should get an easy A on the tests.

I took the class for a GER. The material bores me but Gallivan doesn't. And his tests were insanely easy if you paid attention in class. And he's pretty nice to look at which doesn't hurt.

Great class is you are interested in continuring with archaeology. He is very enthusiastic, very willing to help students both in class and one on one. Readings are generally good and are important but are also thorougly discussed in class. Gives a great study guide to tell you exactly what's on the exam. Exciting field trips (if you like digging)!

Gallivan was pretty awesome. Because of this class I decided to be an Anthro major. It wasn't too hard, I usually just skimmed the readings, and everything you need to know for tests is discussed in class. He was also very helpful in his office hours.

I took this class on a whim, and ended up really liking archaeology. He is very enthuiastic about what he teaches and willing to talk to students during office hours, etc. It was a lecture class, so the tests were m/c, t/f, short answer, and only one had essays. If you do your work and read the material you will do well.

This class is relatively easy. Attendance to class is definately not mandatory. He posted a study guide before each test, including the final, that summarized every question on the test. I did not go to class, used the powerpoints that were posted online to answer the study guide, and never got below an A on a test. Take this for GER4B

A good class. Topics are generally provocative. Lectures are informal but info heavy. No more cold calling (this semester, anyway), though there was some class discussion of the contemporary impact of archaeology (probably the most interesting part of the class). Moderately challenging for an intro but not unreasonable.
