He is a great professor and person. He really cares about his students. He definitely can be an ass at times, but that's just because he wants you to be better. He's hilarious, too. He always gives good feedback when it comes to crits, and he's always willing to help out and give pointers. Put in the effort, and he will too.

Malcolm is a great teacher. He's intimidating at first, but once you get to know him he's actually a really nice guy. He's very willing to help you if you have the right attitude. Don't go into the class thinking you know how to draw, and definitely don't show him any anime or fan art drawings you've done. It won't impress him.

Malcolm's class was one I had to work for, but I highly enjoyed taking it. He gives great feedback on projects, just make sure you take your time and have good craftsmanship.

He's homophobic, and very brash about everything. If he doesn't like you, he'll yell it in your face at 9 am with his rank coffee breathe. He is a talented artist, and he will give you feedback. He made me want to smoke an entire pack of cigarettes every break I got.

Malcolm is a great professor. He only wants to see you succeed and become a better artist. At first he is really tough and you may not like him, however he is only like that to ward away slackers and people who do not care. I recommend him to anyone needing to take drawing 1 for a core class. His teaching style is fun and keeps you engaged.

Malcolm is a great teacher. He seems really mean in the beginning, but thats just to get rid of the people who are there for the wrong reasons. He helped me improve so much and I would gladly take another class with him. He is the best teacher I've ever had. He really cares for his students in and out of the classroom. Dear rate my professor...(took his class you'll understand that joke) Amazing prof! Pushes you to do things you didn't think you could, sense of humor, constructional criticism. I havent had Malcolm in years, but am constantly surprised to see everyone saying they learned about the HARD KNOCK LIFE of being an artist from his class. Slave to make everything look like it "came out of a printer", despite computers existing, making this caveman practice of perfection useless. It'd be delusional to say this class was helpful.

To be honest, just getting through his class is very difficult. I couldn't really take him seriously since the first day of class. And quite frankly, I don't think he took me seriously either. He will work you to the bone and will never be satisfied by the amount of work you do. He has very high expectations. Take his classes with caution.

Advanced Painting. Cried in his class a lot--not for the faint of heart. You WILL feel stupid. Really makes you think though. Wants you to realize the art world before you get there. Does actually care though--he's like the dad who is secretly rooting for you but doesn't want you to know. doesn't want you to get a big head. Hates laziness.

Love this teacher! he is truly my favorite professor. You improve so much in your own abilities in his class. You just have to be open minded and willing to take any advice he gives you. The people who don't like this teacher either don't try or just probably shouldn't be an art major because their abilities are lacking.
