I had him for ENPM609. First half of the course was good; hardware design seems to be his specialty. The second half, focusing mainly on software, went down hill. He used the slides which came with an error-prone textbook and pretty much read the bullet points. It didn't look like he was familiar with the material and his preparation was minimal.

Dr. Franklin is an excellent teacher. He has a clear love and expertise in the subject matter and is able to teach with clarity and concision. He does not cram material into this course, but sets a good pace so if you pay attention and do the work, you will walk away having learned alot.

Attendance at the 206 lab is mandatory, but for lecture he reads straight off the slides he posts online. Has amazing handwriting, I've never seen such perfect straight lines drawn completely freehand.

I've had him for multiple classes. He's a very good professor and his midterms are usually straightforward and easy. But his final is usually hard with one or two complicated question(which will catch you by surprise). He's a fair grader who looks for correct concept rather than correct answer. I'd def take him again.

Comment:

I had him for two classes 303 and 350. He was very good in both although the 303 class was horrible (because of the course not the prof.). Exams are easy and his grading is fair. He expects you you understand stuff conceptually rather than memorize. Attendance is "mandatory" due to pop quizes. But EE majors be beware of taking him for 350.

Always late to class. was his first time teaching this subject and boy did it show. Not many faired well. A third of us are still waiting on our grades and classes start in a week. AVOID THIS MAN!!!

He is a very nice person, very helpful. He cares a lot about his students. He made the first exam easier when he learnt that students were having problems. Also very good on changing dates to accomodate students.
