The TA really was the one who taught us everything because she doesn't know what she's talking about. She's also a very strict grader and very clearly plays favorites--she only likes you if you already know what you're doing, which is probably because she's too lazy and incompetent to work with students that actually do need the help. Stay away.

In intermediate Field she is sooo funny! She is a sort of hard grader and your final project comes up really quickly and you have to do a lot but you learn A LOT! She is really nice and fun to talk too.

Comment:

Mara's a wonderful person, and when she shows you stuff, you learn from it. Some lectures were a bit dry, and she grades pretty hard, but Intermediate Field was a fun class, and I'd recommend it.

Mara picks favorites and is very critical of peoples projects. She is contradictory in her statements about what she wants in a project, and does not evaluate quality over the amount of laughs that you get from the screening. She can only teach by showing and can not lecture. she counts on outside experience over what she actually teaches.

Mara is a very nice person and means well, but she is simply a terrible teacher. I actually lost information that I had learned in previous lower level courses because she had us do meaningless exercises. She also thinks that merely surrounding herself with good art makes her a good artist.

Mara is extremely annoying and aggravating. She's scatterbrained and wretched at teaching. Her assignments are often pointless busy work. She's an inconsistent, very unfair grader. Picks favorites. Her own work (which she will show you at length) is terrible. Worst professor I've had at Park by far.

I had Mara for Intro and Intermediate Field Production...I didn't like her so much in the first class, but Intermediate was much better. A little spacy, but open to many ideas and not bad at all if you know how to communicate with her.
