I had Professor Landy's Topics in Film course several years ago. She's an eccentric teacher who tends to ramble on discursive subjects... I can certainly understand why many students dislike her. But she knows her stuff, and if you engage on her level she's very personable. I learned a lot about analyzing flms, even if classes were occasionally dry

I don't agree with anyone. Dr. Landy is a good teacher. Her lectures do tend to go round-about the topic, but she always relates it to the discussion in the end. Her gradings on papers were VERY helpful & fair. So long as you do the readings, go to class, & participate in the discussions, you'll do fine. Only complaint: she runs out the clock.

Took English Film with her..One of the most difficult and confusing classes I've ever taken...Dr. Landy is somewhat hateful and extremely confusing and demanding, and does not respond to e-mailed questions. She also seems to base grading on whether she likes you or not. She is utterly awful, and I am no longer making Dean's List because of her.

She begins on one point, and by the end of her confusing ramble she's on an unrelated topic. Completely unorganized! She scribbles random words on the board with the handwriting of a toddler. Only 2 essays for the class and she grades easy. I pulled of an A- without understanding what the class was actually about. Worst teacher I've ever had.

Very academic, talks continually as though she were trapped in a dissertation. Sentences have so many clauses that when they end, it's easy to forget what the subject was. Load up on Adderall or skip this prof.

I really enjoy her teaching style and choice of films. She has a certain way of approaching the material, certain theorists she likes to employ, but I think she's a very good teacher.
