I took CS111 Winter 2018 with him. Quick notes if you have him: 1) go to lecture and read the after-lecture notes he posts on ilearn to go over what you didn't get in class. 2) study for the quizzes using the past quizzes. I aced all of the quizzes by using the past quizzes he gives as practice. 3) BEWARE that the final is much harder than quizzes

Class was kinda hard. Ton of proofs that you won't understand in lecture. Just learn to do your homework and 85% is an A

Don't know why the reviews are subpar; maybe he was bad before, but improved? Thought this guy was great, he was good in lecture, gave a lot of resources online, and was extremely helpful and approachable in office hours. Class consisted of 4 easy quizzes, and 5 hw assignments which weren't that bad. If you're on top of things an A is achievable.

He is a very nice professor but the material in 111 was tough and always explaining proofs to us that we never used until the final was definitely tough. But he is helpful and is very nice during office hours.

The professor is great. You should study hard for this class to understand the material. If you study, you will get A, A-) there is no midterm, but 4 quizzes in the quarter that are pretty easy.

It's hard to understand his lectures and skips many steps. Honestly, googling how to do anything he goes over in lecture is a lot better. He takes of tons of points for the homework, quizzes, and final for small things. Way too much memorization, which i hate. Gave two homeworks consecutively right before the dam final. The final sucks

It is depressing how easy it is to fail when you're doing well in the course until the final exam comes along and pulls down your grade harshly. The problem is that there is a lot of information to cover and he goes through them really fast.

There are 5 HWs, which have to be written in LaTeX, which is annoying the first time. The HWs are pretty easy when done with a partner. Quizzes are easy if you study for them. I got an F on the first quiz (a review), but managed to get a 81% (A-). Final is stressful, but is doable. Overall, good teacher, but messes up in lectures sometimes.

This class is a challenge, but it's easy if you do the work. I rarely went to class. He posts a book online so you don't need to buy anything. There's 4 quizzes and 5 hw assignments and a final. >80% == A. The quizzes are simple just read the quiz syllabi! Make sure you understand ALL of the material on there. Final is practically 2 or 3 quizzes.

Pretty unclear lectures. However, he is helpful during office hours, so I learned most of the materials from office hours. Don't take him until you fully understand the concepts of CS. Take this class after you take CS014, or you'll fall behind.

The worst professor I have ever had! He was terrible in teaching, grading and characteristic. He really sucks. I had to withdraw the course at the end of the quarter. The only thing is that in graduate courses he doesn't grade too bad, the grading is reasonable.

Took CS141 or 150 in 1999 (Whichever one is Algorithm), He's VERY demanding, tests were not hard, just make sure you read the text and attend all lectures

He is very helpful in class, and in office hours. His tests are exactly like his homeworks and quizzes. For CS 111, there is simply a lot of material so the exams seem difficult if you don't put in the right amount of time. I would take him for another class any time.

Professor Chrobak is very demanding -the hardest prof I had here. He tolerates little from those who don't work hard. He could be more sensitive, but he is fair. If you work hard, and let him know it, he will warm up to you. Don't even think about taking any course of his casually.

Really straightforward. Tells you why things work and how to do the problems. Tests predictable (just like hw, but easier).
