She has a passion for the subject, but is incapable of listening to any feedback provided by the students. Very unclear with her questions on online quizzes. Tons of unnecessary outside reading. Often invalidates students when approached with critiques.

I have had so many teachers in this department and never hated any of them until her. She is a harsh grader about every little thing but will NOT tell listen to your questions or advice at all. She will degrade you and invalidate you and your feelings by ignoring and deflecting all questions saying "you should know this" instead of teaching you.

Really disrespectful to students whose ideas do not fit perfectly wither hers. If you are outside the parameters of what she thinks is normal, you can forget about it

She's very fun! She tries to make the class easy! Just go to class and get the attendance points. She usually has something interesting going on anyway, it's worth taking!

Sweet, caring, nice, optimistic---but I could have taught the class better. If I hear the word 'clicker' again I'll flip, but in the end she took off the clicker attendance machine b/c people had issues with them. I never read the book, failed the tests (easy if u read), but attendance, participation, and online extra credit opinions gave me an A.

She takes attendance randomly 6 times, so if you miss class with a legitimate excuse on an attendance day you will automatically lose 25 points. Her grading system is extremely unfair, although her tests are stupidly easy. It's all about memorizing questions from the study guide. Interesting, but the grading system makes it not worth taking.

Most of your grade is based on attendance which is done randomly. So if you go to class everyday you will get an easy A. She gives study guides that take forever to do. She also gives extra credit on blackboard.

Attendance is unfair (5 random days, each counts for 5 class periods - what if you have a legit excuse and otherwise attend every class?). If you do the study guide you'll ace the test, but they're ridiculously difficult (hours of work). Test questions focus on text minutiae. Too difficult for a 300 level class.

She was an absolutely horrible teacher. The grading is extremely unfair, especially on the discussion boards. The class is a waste of time & money!

This class was awesome. I never missed a single day and actually WANTED to go to this class. She changed the way she does tests. Instead, she gives you a study guide of 100 ?'s and then 50 of those are on the exam...pretty sweet. This stuff is so relevant to any college student's life too! Take it, you'll learn tons and get a good grade.

Severson was very unclear about what to expect on exams. She is a very nice person, but she has a dry sense of humor. Try to take Human Sexuality with a different professor, because she makes the class more difficult than it needs to be.
