As far as online classes go, I would not recommend this teacher. All of her material is straight from a textbook.. Each week you have to read a chapter, then take a 2 part quiz on that chapter. She doesn't offer any personal input or lectures. She is a tough grader on all essay midterms and leaves rude remarks on them. NOT an easy A teacher!

She is an amazing history buff. She is passionate about what she teaches and you can tell history was her calling. She lectures all class but it was by no means a detriment. If you're taking 17C because it is required for transfer I would definitely recommend her. Test are not difficult and it is part multiple choice and part short essay.

she's very strict but still cares about her students. sit near the front, and take active notes. every day is a lecture, one or two videos. it's very much like a high school history review, with more work. she uses a microphone so don't worry about not hearing her. if no one participates, she will call on random people.

Sadly, this is Professor Stevens last quarter teaching full time. Her class was so informative. I'm a history buff already and the things I learned from her were great! If you think you know your US history, she'll beg you to differ. Take her if you can! But don't be the jerk that sits in the back talking to your neighbor. Not cool.

Probably the most passionate professor about her subject at DeAnza or maybe anywhere. You can tell she has dedicated her life to being a historian. I came into her class at a disadvantage as history is not my strong suit and I have never really learned it and still came out with an a. Make sure you come to class and take good lecture notes.

Rude, tells you to speak your opinion but then gets in a argument with you in front of the whole class. Does not write anything on the board. TALKS FOR 2 HOURS STRAIGHT. And sometimes just keeps talking to keep you in. She has even kept us in longer the the class period. Takes roll everyday so of course you got to be there. Strict on attendance.

She does talk quiet and just has a discussion as lecture. There were some days I was into it and others I wasn't. I thought she was very nice, sweet, and passionate. Not the end of the world if you miss class, but I'd suggest trying to make it. Not an easy A, but worth it. Test are multiple choice with 2 essay questions. Overall lovely professor!

She looks intimidating and is kind of rude, however, she does know what she's talking about. If you show up everyday and take good lecture notes, you'll pass the class. The only time I opened up the textbook was to skim it before midterms, but I would've passed without it. If you stay on top of the assignments and do the extra credit you'll be fine

good teacher, really rude. doesn't care about what issues you may be having and has a hostile answer to every question. didn't know if computer sent the final in properly, so i emailed her a copy, she said she doesn't accept them, then emailed her back saying its just a precaution, she bolded instructions and basically told me "too bad". Very rude!

She is a good teacher that stays on point and gives people second chances. She gives extra credit. Her essays on the exams are the only thing that needs focus on but as long as you stay on point and give facts then your fine. Take her!

Strict but a true historian who knows her material. She can be very mean if you get on her bad side. She speaks softly so it can be difficult to hear at times. Attendance is mandatory (you have to sign in everyday). She offers at least 5 extra credit assignments, maximum 30 points allowed. If you participate and don't half-ass the course, you pass.

Did well by reading the chapter right before I took the weekly quiz-tests so that I would remember most answers, and could remember where to look up those I didn't remember. She offers extra credit quizzes each week as well as an extra credit test at the end of the term. Got a D on the midterm because I wasn't detailed enough, but still got an A.

A real historian, and the department chair. Good lectures, fairly easy tests, and extra credit available. Old school educator where she expects you to attend and work at College level. Recommended for the competent. Not a difficult class if you take notes.

She knows her stuff really well and as long as you follow her agenda and listen to her lectures carefully, you're good to go. Only thing is that she's very picky on the answers to quizzes or exams, so pay attention to the little things she say!
