Comment:

I had the opportunity of taking her during her last scad quarter. She was a nice person but her class was really inconvenient. She expected us to take just as much time for her class as other studio classes, and that just can't be done. Let me just say that I am PLEASED that this class is over, but it really wasn't as bad I thought.

Dr. Betz is the worst professor I've had at SCAD, and this is the worst class I've taken. She grades for trivial things (like your notebook), doesn't provide feedback, refuses to put grades online because she can't be bothered to learn how. Rude in emails when you ask her questions. Unclear in assignments. Wastes time in class. An absolute waste.

DrBetz is one of the worst teachers at SCAD. It is almost impossible to get any question answered from her because she does not understand what your saying and does not respond to emails. She arbitrarily assigns homework that is useless to learning. She grades based on the presentation, not content of notes and essays. Her class is infuriating.

Very helpful teacher. You know exactly what is required of you, and if you need help, all you have to do is ask and you get it. Lots of extra credit available. Also, she loves her subject so much that it's hard not to be interested when she's talking

Betz genuinely cares about her students and the material she is discussing. I think it was clear that she loved the topic. She's a bit scattered...never really knew exactly what was due when and what she expected. She's very nice though. We had one 12 page paper with presentation, 3 quizzes that were essay format, and project as a final.

She's a great teacher! Her tests aren't hard and she tells you what you need to know. I love that she cares about the individual. Yes you have to make an art piece, but you get to pick who to emulate.

Was not overall impressed with her teaching and grading system. She is however a very nice woman. But the majority of your grade depends on your research paper that needs to be accompanied by a piece of art. Your art piece can be trash but you can still receive an A if your essay is immaculate. Do not recommend. She has a very strange weighted grading system. A's depend on doing massive amounts of extra credit for a very little amount of points. Note taking is difficult and not concise. Learning from your own from textbooks is a must, lectures aren't helpful.

Don't be deceived of the difficulty of her classes, she will make you work (a little) but her class is EASY to get an A+ grade! She gives TONS of extra credit and is VERY dedicated to helping her students get the grade they desire. She loves teaching and is very enthusiastic! She can be quite unclear about assignments though so ASK QUESTIONS.

Professor Betz has a weird grading system and is a little nit-picky but if you give her a chance, you'll realize that she knows her stuff. During the quarter, little bits of her life experience came out- In her day, it seems that she was a big part of the fine art/art critic world. She's also incredibly understanding if you have any problems.

A little hard to follow at times, but I definitely like her as a teacher. We meditated every week, had a super easy final and did yoga the last day of class. She really got students involved so it was "our" class instead of her class.

Betz is as hard as they come- for being a history professor. You HAVE to know dates. She is not clear on what is expected in assignments, and maticulously grades minor things such as how you have your notebook organized. She makes you take notes from the book, and tests are rediculous because she has a list of 40 slides,picking the hardest 10.

Agreeing with others, Betz is a little weird. She can also be flighty and scatter-brained, not great if you like things organized. She cares a lot about you and how well you do though, very helpful, & in turn, easier

I would strongly discourage taking this professor- she scheduled a quiz and didnt show up. She also failed to make it class when we had a major assignment due. She's a loon that rambles and does not teach. She theorizes about how to be a good student. She grades on how good your notes for class look.

Dr. Betz is kind of a hippie, having us meditate on the first day of class and all. She's a bit strange, but I liked her in general. The book she makes you buy is comparatively cheap, so that was a plus. She really pushed the understanding of concept and the abstract, and she really appreciated those aspects of art. I liked that a lot. Sometimes she'd go off on random tangents, but other than that, she's pretty good.

I was completely dumbfounded by Dr. Betz's class. A nice lady for sure, but she doesn't teach, just takes you to a bunch of irrelevant lectures and field trips. You won't learn much if you don't like to study on your own, and if you don't like writing then she's definitely not for you.
