Comment:
Prof Lugones is a sweet woman, but she's terribly ill-suited to be a professor. There's barely a syllabus and her teaching style consists of incoherent, tangent lectures. She's not tech savvy which makes reaching her outside of class nearly impossible. I'd have not hated this class as much if it was taught by someone more competent. Don't take her.

This class should not be considered an English class. The content surrounds gender in the sense of women's roles and includes several dense texts. There is no syllabus, no clear guidelines. All that is graded is a "research diary" at the end of the semester. She will e-mail on a Thursday what readings are due on Monday which can be an entire book.

Comment:
Prof Lugones is a very sweet woman over-all. Yet, when it comes to being a professor she is extremely unprofessional and unequipped. No syllabus, no structure, and she sends all assignments through a personal e-mail that is not compatible with Binghamton's. She is easily extremely confused and can get very personal and rude. DONT TAKE. DONT.

I would give some constructive criticism but she doesn't deserve it. I wholeheartedly regret taking this class. No syllabus, disorganized, extremely difficult readings, and very hard to reach outside of class. Need I say more?

Easily the most disorganized professor I've ever taken. Expect very difficult readings assigned 1 or 2 days before class, no syllabus, no reading list. She seems to be making the class up as she goes, then is confused as to why the class is quiet and participation is lacking. AVOID

Her lectures are so unclear. She skips around on ideas so its hard to take notes. She will also go off on tangents that have nothing to do with the topic. You only one test (40%) and a final (60%) and she doesn't help you prepare for any of them. Worst class ever

Comment:
Only take a class with her if you love the subject, otherwise, you will seriously struggle. She's brilliant, but it can be hard to understand her thought process, and the grading is extremely unclear. Idk if Thinking Decolonially will be offered again, but don't take it unless you're really good with theoretical concepts.

Dr. Lugones is one of the smartest women I know! I definitely learned SO much from her! There's only a midterm (40%) and a final (60%). She assigns about two chapters a week to read and DISCUSS in class. She takes attendance all the time, and participation is important. If you go to office hours, she is very helpful in interpreting ideas!

Most brilliant professor I have ever encountered. She changed my life and my entire perspective on feminism. The readings were enlightening. The class was completely essay-based and the final was a fiesta! Best class I have taken in college thus far.

Prof Lugones literally changed my outlook on life. After my freshman year I transferred away, but I will always remember Maria as one of the best professors I've ever come across. One must *really* pay attention and take time to process what she says, but, particularly for those that study sciences and business like me, it is well worth it.

Comment:
Prof Lugones is extremely unclear. She never, and I mean NEVER, responds to e-mails or posts anything on Blackboard. Everything in this class is completely verbal, and if you miss a class or miss out on information, that's too bad for you because she literally does nothing to ensure that her students know what is actually going on.

Difficult, yes, but well worth it. You have to really work with the readings, but this class was life changing. A brilliant scholar. My classmates struggled (or lazy) but I can tell if u don't do the readings then you won't get the logic of the course. If u are threatened by work that isn't white and male, then u might not want to take the course.

SHe knows a lot, and I learned SO much great stuff from the course, but this is really only a class you can succeed in if you are willing to dedicate about 1-2 hours every day to reading her books. A great course, but try to take it with a different professor. Very hard to get your points across to her or her TA (both foreign), and vice-versa.

brilliant woman, but absolutely horrible teacher. not very organized, gives you the syllabus in senseless chunks every week. useless writing assignments. her TA was ok, but not too helpful. asked her a question through email once and got "no." as a response. terrible class. Awful teacher, awful class, and possibly the most awful academic and intellectual experience you will face in college if you so choose to sign up for anything that this professor teaches. STAY AWAY.

She is a very intelligent person. That being said, she is a horrendous teacher. Officer hours only left me with a false sense of understanding of her assignments. She likes to educate you about people being mistreated in U.S history, well she doesn't treat educating her students a priority apparently. Avoid this class at all costs.

Absolutely horrible. I have never experienced such an awful professor in college before. She's truly unhelpful and everyone is completely lost in the class. Do NOT take her class for a gen ed (or at all for that matter). It'll be a waste of your time and efforts.

Worst class I have ever taken. I am almost though with this class and I still have no clue as to what she is talking about. It is painful beyond belief. Avoid this class. No structure, no clarity, no help, no idea what she is saying. The motivated questions are hell. The papers are even worse. The only test is worth 40 percent of the grade. Bad!
