Mario, Mario, Mario. Seemingly good artist and designer--if it was still 1970. Teaches Photoshop but has little knowledge on how to *use* Photoshop. Had to ask a second-year student in our class for help figuring out hotkeys and shortcuts. Too bad the class was mandatory or else I would've dropped it while I was sitting there listening to him.

Comment:

He can't explain photoshop and that is all we used and gets mad when asked to go over something again. Can't talk in class AT ALL not even during work time. If you get stuck with him, better find someone in class that knows photoshop. OK artist, horrible teacher.

Honetly when i signed up for this class I was nervous once i read the reviews, but after taking this class I realized he is a great professor. He likes to take your work seriously and he gives you oppurtunies for extra credit and understands when you need more time. I learned alot in this class and definitely enjoyed it. he is not mean

Comment:

He's a really nice guy and knows a lot but he doesn't translate any of that in his class. He will literally just pull up what the project is and say go do it. He gets frustrated when you ask a question and tends to single you out. He really expects too much for a funds class, overall just a stressful class.

Comment:

He was a hard teacher, but he loved his job. His teaching style guarantee if you want to get something out of his class and want to get a good grade, you can do that. It isn't a class to slack off in, he takes everything very seriously. Unlike most 2D Design classes, he uses all photoshop. Helpful for photo majors.

Hes a really nice cool guy, with some crazy awesome art work, he went to SAIC, but his class is VERY fast paced and the projects are sooo boring, he gets frusterated when students get confused and he doesnt like people taking while we work. He's a tad unreliable. i like the guy, but i would NOT suggest his class.

He can be really annoying at times, but if you think you can deal with that, I would highly recommend him for Fund. of 2D Design because he came up with the best projects. All the other classes would have projects with just a few shapes on a page, but his projects teach a lot about the creative process and I found them really helpful.

Though Mario is a knowledgeable guy, he does not translate anything he knows into this class. For one, he needs to either learn PS/AI or let us use other forms of media. He needs to work on teaching students the terminology that we'll need to apply elsewhere in our field of study. He tends to talk down to students a lot and gets very long-winded.

He explains things in detail, u need to take notes. Every week I'd watch as people just stared blankly at him as he explained everything in detail, then they would show up with work far from what he explained and they would whine about how he doesn't explain well. I was the only one who wrote down what he explained. If you r'nt lazy ull learn lots

I found the projects interesting, but the teacher is very unclear!! He starts arguments with students so just try to mind your business. Try to learn PS and AI prior to the class: you're on your own learning it.

-Usually doesn't know what he's talking about, and doesn't know photoshop or illustrator very well (which is what most of the projects are made on) -Asks students for help a lot.-Treats all of his students like 5 year olds -Bad communication skills.-Projects are usually boring and useless.-Haven't learned much at all.

Makes no sense, assignments are pretty useless, didn't learn or take anything from this class. All assignments are done on Photoshop and Illustrator which he doesn't even fully know how to use. Grades fairly easy but will give you a hard time about getting it right. Horrible communication skills.

Mario is an okay teacher, he seems very knowledgeable concerning art history and 2d but not so much in photoshop or illustrator (which are required in all assignments!). Sometimes i feel bad for him because he seems to try really hard to do a good job but isn't always well recieved..

He is HORRIBLE. I came into this class expecting to learn how to paint well and use other tools to make art besides photoshop and illustrator. Not to mention the fact that he doesnt even know his way around photoshop, and usually asks students for help. He was completely useless when I needed help. He's also a jerk and wants his way, no matter what

He is very difficult to please. He demands fine art knoledge in students, even if you're not studying fine arts, or care.(his class is a requirement) He also seems to get mad easily and does't allow any talk. He expects everybody to behave like soldiers. Believe it or not he likes to BUST NUTS(ejaculate) on paintings. Hahaha...lol

As said, he is very demanding and kind of hard to read sometimes. I felt for a few assignments that I had them nailed, but I haven't gotten a perfect grade yet. His social interaction with the students seems "gated" in that he cannot talk to students as peers as other teaches can. Despite all this, his demands helped me create excellent work.

Very very hard class. I wouldnt recommend this one unless it is your major or somehow related to it. He assigns a lot of very demanding hw assignments that I rarely found the time to complete. He also doesnt allow talking in his class, which is really upsetting to me. I enjoy talking to my classmates.

I've never taken a drawing class before, and I learned a LOT. His grading is a little random, but usually pretty high. There's a lot of work and you can't miss a single class without falling behind, but he does his best to catch you up and in the end you'll come out with some really amazing pieces that you wouldn't expect.
