Comment:
Took his class in my first and second semester. His class is a bit lecture heavy, but he grades fairly. If you refer to the sample papers he gives you for assignments, you'll basically get an A. He is a bit strict on late assignments though. I'm assuming most of the people who give him a bad review just don't want to put in the work.

Mark Brosamer is still the hardest English teacher Ive taken in my academic career. I got B.S. in a field that requires a lot of writing. Ive written papers for some doctors and none have been as strict and awful as Mark Brosamer when critiquing. Like someone else said, he criticizes too much but doesnt mold students into better writers. Avoid.

Brosamer is one of the best English teachers I've had. He asks people to dig deeper at the words on the page and understand the subtext. To those complaining about his high standards, on the first day of all his classes he hands out a packet that includes example papers and instructions that show exactly what he wants. Pretty straight forward.

He's very unclear when it comes to grading, and when you question him about it afterward the feedback isn't entirely the best. He gives 610 essay prompts to choose from! Many points can be taken off for minor mistakes. All classes are a discussion, and the homework is an online discussion. Nonetheless, classes were fun at times.

I like his style of teaching, very straightforward and to the point. I thought the topics and lectures were rather interesting. He was clear with what was needed in our essays. Attending office hours helped get my essays from 80's to 90's. Be sure to do the reading, as he gives pop quizzes. Aside from that, this class was relatively easy.

I enjoyed 101A with Professor Brosamer in the fall so much, I took 101B with him in the the spring and plan on taking Intro To Shakespeare with him this fall. He genuinely cares about his students, and makes every effort to help them succeed. As long as you keep up with the reading and take his criticisms on your writing to heart, you will do fine!

Terrible teacher. Extremely hard grader and has pop quizzes on random days. He makes his assignments due at 12pm instead of midnight. Forces you to take notes and if you don't do an online assignment it counts as an absence. 2 absences and you are dropped.

First of all, I understand everyone who gives him bad grades, all recensions here might be true. But for me, he was perfect. I'm not a native speaker and I got threw 101A but my English was still bad. But he was a caring teacher who really helped me improving my essays and at the end of semester I got As on my essays and a B as overall grade.

I cannot recommend this guy as a professor, he is just not a good at all. His class is tough because he has such high standards and expects so much out of you, yet he doesn't teach you how to write a well written academic paper to his high standards. I would not suggest taking his class, you won't learn much, you'll just be wasting valuable money.

I do not recommend taking Professor Brosamer for English, he is a very tough and he does not explain how to write an academic paper to his standards and grades really though. He acts like he teaches and grades really hard, his lectures are useless. I would not take him again, he is horrible, he barely provides any help inside of class. Horrible.

He is difficult, grades hard, terrible lectures. He teaches like he doesn't want to be in classes, making his student not want to come to class either. His feed back on essays are terrible and when asked for help, he basically says to figure it out

Mr. Brosamer is seriously one bad teacher, he is not helpdful, nor is his class worth taking. He grades extremely hard and sometimes it's really unclear on how he truly grades. Lot of ppl ended up dropping his class because hes that bad of a professor, he needs to be reevaluated on how he teaches and grades. I would avoid his class if at all.

Unforgettable, somewhat subjective, witty educator. Easy on the eyes. Passionate enough of an instructor to wonder what aspirations he had when he was in college. Tough grader, as he should be.

Boring, cringy lectures. Classes he does everything but teach english so when you get your essay back, expect a really bad grade. If you go to after class appointment he has so little input he doesnt even help. A monkey can teach as good as he can, and that's being objective. Avoid at all costs.

He doesn't help you much at all, I'm not sure as to why he is a professor. He doesn't explain what he wants fully, so we truly understand what he expects. He is a really hard grader, nor does he teach us how to write really good papers. I would not recommend taking him for any English class. He's always in the ELC, but he's not much help either.

This was a hybrid class for Englsh 101C, meeting only 1 day aweek and the rest online. This was one of my hardest classes, as Mr. Brosamer is really hard in grading, and is really unclear as to what he expects for his essays and assignments. I dropped his class, to take it again with another professor, hopefully a much better one than this guy. :(

Grading: 3 open book tests (poetry, short story, Shakespeare), 3 essays, pop quizzes, and attendance. Tips: Be clear and write a lot in the essays. He's a very tough grader but doable, and the tests are open book and not that bad. Participate in class and online (hybrid). Read the booksstoriespoemsplays multiple times.
