His atheism class was his second time ever teaching it (fl2016) & by far the worst class ever. We all practically taught ourselves & had to interrupt the books on our own. Read 4 books and wrote two 9 page papers on a given chapter and argue it & a 15pg final. HE GRADES REALLY UNFAIRLY. Completely teaches us nothing. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE TURN OUT.

All around a nice professor. He is a bit odd at times and can seem very dry. He does crack jokes with the class, in his own way. Many of his work is through worksheets he makes, and definitely a lot of book reading to understand what he's going on about.

Awful, resentful and full of scatological comments. Yet, he grades as if it was the IVY league! HE made us buy his books he edited called Philosophy of Film... These books are so poorly written and have no basis. At the same time, if you write something for him expect a C. He is also very boring and hates to be corrected. I recommend avoiding.

He was probably one of the most dreadfully monotonous teachers I've ever had the displeasure of encountering. The coursework was not bad, but his deadpan demeanour and indifferent personality made it feel more like I was being taught by an android.

He's not a bad teacher but it's much more interesting taking an upper level class with him since each class is more of a discussion. His intro classes are DRY and usually full of people who don't know what they're talking about. I get the feeling he sees intro classes as a necessary evil on the road to finding students who actually like philosophy.

Conard is very robotic and doesn't care much about "appeal to emotion". If you understand his course, you'll be in great shape. If you begin to get lost, you're pretty much on your own. He doesn't stray from his paint-by-number schedule and has no time for the confused. He may be very good at Logic, but he's just so boring and unfeeling. Not fun.

Even though he sort of seems like he's spacing out some of the time, he does get his point across in a clear manner. I've had much better philosophy professors, but I've also had infinitely worse one's.

An interesting professor. Can come off as somewhat aloof and standoff-ish. However, he's a really effective lecturer and manages to make complex philosophical concepts seem very clear. Fair grader, gives tons of comments on papers and lets you rewrite if you are unhappy with your grade.

Very very smart and funny and passionate. i was really dreading this class but at least once a class, no matter how exhausted or confused he was, he managed to pull me in and get my attention. Would definitely recommend taking a course with him.

Dr. Conard is probably the most amazing professor I have ever had. If it weren't for him I probably wouldn't take Philisophy nor would I understand it. If you have the opportunity to take one of his classes, take it.

Strangely enough, his upper level classes are easier than his lower level ones. He's a very nice person, extremely funny in lecture and will help you understand the material even when you think it's hopeless. One of the best professors Marymount has to offer.

In retrospect, Dr. Conard was a really great teacher and a good guy to boot. The expectations were fairly clear, and the assignments were fair. We would always go over the homework in class, and he would go out of his way to clarify and help you understand the material. The tests were predictable and fair. All in all, very fun and informative.

He often has students answer other students' questions. He has an obsession with red ink, and he is very unreasonable and uninspiring... especially for a philosopher. He seems to favor men which is outrageous since the student population is predominantly female.
