Mark is a really nice guy and is clear in his lectures. I enjoyed this class and the reason I got a D was because of the amount of effort i placed in the class but he willing to help students! Tests are fairly hard but thats expected for any math class.

Comment:

I asked questions and felt his answers were condescending. He seemed generally irritated that I was not as interested in Calculus as he was. The class was made out to be harder than it ever should be, and he was very hard to get help from as he only had office hours for 1 hour per week. Currently ranks very high on my 'horrible teachers list.'

Comment:

Mark is a pleasant teacher. His tests are hard. He allows one sheet of notes front and back, but no TI- 83/84 calculators to be used on the exam, but he provides a basic calculator for you to use on the exam. This class really works your brian! Study, study, study!!

Mark is a great professor. His class is not easy, but if you attend class, do the work and ask questions when you don't understand something, he WILL help you. His test's are hard, but if you study you will do fine. Mark has a great personality, but don't assume he's an easy professor b/c if you do, then you'll not be prepared for his exams!

I took three math classes with Mark and I think that he was a good professor. The material was difficult but that's not his problem. He is also one of the nicest profs I have ever had, never saw him in a bad mood ever and was always happy to answer any questions. Never talked down to us like many profs do...

It didn't seem like the attendance was mandatory but it wasn't good if you missed a lecture. I would have gotten a worse grade than an A if it wasn't for the curve. Homework was do by the end of the term and I was thankful for that since I somehow was able to catch up near the end even though everything had to be in order I didn't understand it all

This guy is nice, but he is pretty tough when it comes to math. You should probably understand and do all of the homework problems to get a decent grade on his tests. He is pretty helpful when it comes to questions.

Well, I WAS a 4.0 student until this class. LOTS of homework, but that's to be expected with Math. TESTS ARE NOT GOOD. He doesn't allow ANY notes or calculators, unlike the real world. He focuses on memorization for tests, which does NOT help when one gets out into the job world...

He seems reasonable at first, but he turns out to be very misleading to his students. Teacher gives practice tests and tells students that with homework + practice test they will be adequately prepared for exams but exams will contain next to nothing that is in homework/practice exams. Is hard to contact. Not an advised instructor.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! If you are not a math whiz, stay away and take a different teacher. He wastes much of class time talking about things you will see in calculus or trig. Not everybody is going to that level of math and doesnt care. He spends too much time talking about stuff we dont do in our homework OR see in tests. His tests are hard too

He is a nice person always showing up to class smiling. However, he didn't spend as much time as he should have explaining the various topics, but when he did speak most of the stuff he said made sense. He would sometimes assigned us problems to work on and left the classroom. Ferguson really knows his stuff but his exams are hard.

This was a HARD class, but Mark sets students up to win as long as they come to class, ask questions, pay attention, and try. I earned an average of 50% on my 3 exams, but with the take home group final, extra credit opportunities, and liberal curve, I passed with a B. Also: He's great during office hours, but don't expect much outside class & OH

I HAVE HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE IN HIS CLASS. I think he is a nice person but he in NOT HELPFUL. he leaves immediately after class. he WILL ask questions on tests that arent in the homework he WILL NOT adequately prepare students to answer these questions. he grades harshly. i work HARD in his class and i am failing it.

He does not explain the materiel well. You will need to learn every thing from the book, even then you will need to know things that aren?t in the book for the tests. Mark is the worst instructor at Chemeketa. Take his class if you enjoy burning your money.

Take his class ONLY if you want to take it again with someone else! I had A's all the way through until I got a D in his class and had to re-take it with another instructor.
