Great prof. Teaches a difficult subject but makes it known what you need to focus on. Breaking up the class into quizzes and an assignment helped keep me on track for the final exam.

Failed to cover most of the material in lecture, so we read 13 of it on our own with no feedback. Tested primarily on the 13rd he never spoke about. Boring as all hell. He marks easy though.

The man is brilliant, maybe a little too brilliant. He works very hard and tries his best to make sure students learn the law and take it away with them for them. Gillen is clear as mud. He's marking makes no sense and contains more errors than the exam you submit. Whatever you do, don't write a paper with him. He never lets students opinions be aired in class or in private conversation. Just skip class and find a text book.

He's boring, the materiel's boring, students are bored in his class. He's not to blame, the material's not to blame, students are not to blame. I had the impression, yet again in law school, that I was trapped in some Sisyphean nightmare. Oh well, let's just get on with rolling that rock again!

I can't believe how positive some of the other ratings are; the only explanations is that they are shill accounts, made by Gillen. Mark Gillen is the worst part of my law school experience... and I even had Rebecca Johnson for a substantive law course. He may be brilliant and a definitive legal authority, but he's a terrible teacher.

SOOOOO boring. Gillen is beyond terrible -uninteresting, non-engaging, and just all around a pain in the neck. His notes are short and concise, and he's very organized, and his exams are exactly what he says they are, so in that sense he's not bad, but it's NOT worth the pain of classtime. He is just SOOOO painstakingly boring.

Loved his classes. I actually felt comfortable/ capable navigating around the ITA post tax course. He taught in a very practical fashion- not to mention he is a super kind, approachable, helpful guy.
