Comment:

Professor Golden is one of the worst instructors I've ever taken a class from. He is generally dull and boring, making me want to rip my eyes out each and every Tuesday and Thursday. He marks assignments stupendously hard and has no remorse for practically failing half the class. Do not take a class with him, you will regret it.

Awful Prof! Extremely scattered lectures that are also dry and will put you to sleep. Completely killed my interest in anything Greek. Hard assignments, and tough final. Very hard marker!!! Took it as a GPA booster and that was a big mistake. To do well in the class you have to be as knowledgable about greeks as he is.

WORST. PROF. EVER. No help. Unorganized lectures. Extremely picky marker and above all, NOT FUNNY like he thinks he is. I took this class as an elective and now makes me want to stay clear of all greek studies. Worst class I have ever taken.

i took this class as an elective and enjoyed in the beginning, but not soon after. he is an extremely tough grader. at times, boring during the lectures. the content is sometimes interesting but mostly just a yawn unless you're a hardcore history nut. i dont recommend taking the course and/or him as a prof.

A great guy with an exotic sense of humor. Knows what he is talking about, although sometimes his abrupt jokes or unrelated topic discussion may be a bit confusing. Weird sense of humour no reason to dislike, I thought he was hilarious! Shouldn't marks be a bit hard? We're in Uni. people! Knows more about anc.sport than ANYONE! Expects good writing but is very lenient with due dates and help while writing, what more can you legitimately ask for? Will tell you what his "chicken scratches" say if you ask.

I hated this class! He would blabble on and you really could not be sure what he was talking about. The textbook he assigned was a better teacher. He is an unfair marker, I had a meeting with him to find out how to improve my grade on my next essay, followed his instructions, and still got in the 60's. Terrible prof, very unhelpful.

DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! YOU WILL NOT ENJOY IT AND YOU WILL GET A BAD MARK! he is an unrealistically hard marker, and his lectures jump all over the place. His stale humour interupts ideas and stops his lectures from flowing. Rereading my notes in this class is like trying to read Greek.

SPORTS IN THE ANCIENT WORLD. Cross listed w. Classics. Best class I've ever taken in University. Super hard at first for me to write essays up to his standards but I figured it out and was rewarded with an A-. Really enthusiastic teacher who's got a few good jokes that are well timed and just cheesy enough. Thanks Mark!

He knows his subject very well, and truly wants his students to know everything about it. This class isn't for everyone, there is a lot of material to cover and the assignments and tests require quite a bit of work. If you work hard, you will receive a good mark and he is more than willing to help you with any problems.

Others have said he's a hard marker, but I always scored in the A range on my assignments. Assignments and tests are pretty straight-forward. His lecture style isn't for everyone, (he's pretty kooky), but I found him entertaining and interesting to listen to.

I had Mark for my first year of uni. wow! I almost turned tail and ran! He's an enthusiastic guy and definitely knows his stuff, but is not very clear and could not write on the chalkboard legibly if his life depended on it! Seriously, Latin words written in chicken scratch? Impossible to break the code!!!!

Awesome prof. He doesn't teach Latin anymore, but his odd jokes and thorough explanations made Latin a pleasure to learn. (Crazy thought, I know.) Definitely look forward to taking his classes again.
