When a class is hard as hell and you still love your teacher, you know hes good. He expects you to do the 3-4 hours of homework, which more or less teaches you the material, and if you have any problems you ask in class. His tests are hard as hell, but he is nice, caring, and willing to work with you if you come to him. I WOULD TAKE HIM 4 SURE

He really knows the material super well but tends to go on rants about other topics. Gives a bunch of little 'extra credit' assignments to help boost your grade. He gives a quiz on every chapter but as long as you do the study guide its an easy A.

Great professor. Easily my most favorite professor I have had at SU. Cool guy who's easy to talk to and fun to have conversations with. He is enthusiastic about the subject material and teaches it well. The exams are a bit difficult but just read the book and answer the online questions and you'll do fine. I highly recommend this guy.

Comment:

Honestly the worst biology teacher at SU. He went off on tangents during class and never brought it back to anything relevant. Lab is so confusing and we had two quizzes the entire semester which counted for our entire lab grade. Everyone failed. He teaches you as if you are a molecular geneticist when clearly we aren't. Good luck.... I got a C.

Class is not all that bad as long as you're good with reading. No lecturing in the class which can be both a good and bad thing. Make sure you're comfortable with reading the book and teaching yourself most of the material. The class period is mostly lab.

Class is easy as long as you're comfortable with reading the book and learning the material on your own. Dr. Holland tells you what's expected, and then expects you to figure it out with the book and online material. Tests aren't hard, and the final allows you to make up any points you didn't earn on the first two exams. Very nice and forgiving.

This was my first bio at su and I hated it! He is supposed to be the chair and his classes are crazy. He doesnt teach then he gives an exam on info that was NEVER taught in class. He has no agenda for the class and def. does not prep before hand boring and the worst teacher ever I still passed with a C but it was terrible idk y he teaches

Class itself is easy, and can be boring. Exams are hard. Nice guy, highly knowledgeable about the subject, but his labs and classes have little to do with what you're expected to know for the exams. Virtually no class notes to study from, so any learning comes from reading the textbook.

DO NOT TAKE HIM!the tests are reallly hard you have to basically teach yourself with the textbook. the lecture is a waste of time!he calls roll for the first week and that is it!he knows what he is talking about but he is so weird and boring you wont care.he doesnt say anything helpful in class just use your book and show up for the test!

If you want a class that you don't have to attend, take him. Just read the chapters the test is about because he doesn't talk about anything relevant in class, anyway. Even if you do crappy on the exams, you get a chance to make up points for each exam on the final so it's hard to not do well.

He's pretty cool, and enjoys teaching. He knows a lot of fun random information that makes the class interesting, but still gets the main stuff taught. He uses a complex test scoring system that usually ends up helping your grade.
